Velie - Hill
Amanda Catherine Hill of Wilmington and James Paul Velie of Wilmington exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. at Fort Fisher Historical Site’s Grove of Oaks in Kure Beach, with Barry Ginn officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Billy Keith and Connie Corrieri Hill of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Edmund Ham and Cassie Woodard Hill, Nannie Gardner Corrieri and the late W.J. Corrieri of Goldsboro.
She is a 2003 graduate of Rosewood High School, a graduate of Lenoir Community College with a degree in radiology and a 2010 graduate of Cape Fear Community College with a degree in dental hygiene. She is employed as a registered dental hygienist.
The groom is the son of William Brian Velie and Michelle Velie Weaver of Selma and the grandson of Carolyn Lines Weaver and the late Larry G. Weaver of Clayton and Byron Joseph Velie and the late Marilyn Matty Velie of Chiefland, Fla.
He is a 2002 graduate of Smithfield-Selma High School and a graduate of Nascar Technical Institute of Charlotte. He is employed as an auto technician at Bob King Volkswagen in Wilmington.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white satin dress with spaghetti straps embroidered with pearls and crystals in a leaf pattern that filled the bodice and extended throughout the train.
Her headpiece was a beaded headband with an elbow-length veil.
Jessica Mitchell was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Catherine Cooke and Lauren Gardner, cousins of the bride; Jessica Watkins, sister of the groom; and Sommer Graham and Katherine Waring, friends of the bride.
Bryan Wales was his friend’s best man.
Ushers were Bradley Hill, brother of the bride; Jacob Nash, friend of the groom; and Justin Curry, Travis Curry and Samuel Weaver, brothers of the groom.
Ava Wilson, cousin of the bride, and Riley Watkins, niece of the groom, were flower girls. Nathan Wilson, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer.
Mary Beth Williams and Lauren W. Massey, cousins of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Victoria Combs, cousin of the bride.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jamie Hopper, cousin of the bride, vocalist, and Danny Arnette, violinist and guitarist.
Following the ceremony, a dance reception was held at Halyburton Park Event Center and Patio Garden. Terri Lindquist, Teresa Sutton and Kallen Thompson were directors.
After their wedding cruise to Key West and the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Wilmington.
Events held before the wedding included a lingerie shower hosted by Lauren Gardner and Jessica Mitchell; a bridal shower at the home of the bride hosted by family members; a shower in Wilmington hosted by co-workers of Ann Taylor; and a bachelorette party in Wilmington hosted by friends.
A rehearsal luncheon was held at Carolina Barbecue in Wilmington.
