Smith - Ullrich
CHARLESTON, S.C. — Karen Rachel Ullrich of Charleston and Jared Austin Smith of Goldsboro exchanged vows in an outdoor double-ring ceremony May 1 at 4 p.m. at Willow Cove, with Lin Lewis officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Jim Ullrich of Isle of Palms, S.C., and Ashley Van Roekel Ullrich of Charleston, the granddaughter of Richard P. and Jean R. Van Roekel and the great-granddaughter of Hazel Van Roekel and the late Henry Van Roekel of Goldsboro.
She is employed in the hospitality industry.
The groom is the son of L. Worth Smith and Johnny and Sue Best of Goldsboro and the grandson of Ernestine Smith of Mount Olive, the late Jim and Joanna Hurlburt, Lillie Best and the late Karl Best of Goldsboro.
He is employed in the hospitality industry.
The bride was escorted by her grandfather and given in marriage by her family.
She wore a formal white gown of satin with a lace overlay. The allover beaded gown was embellished with crystals, sequins and seed pearls. It featured an illusion halter neckline with a trumpet skirt and a chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was a fingertip veil of silk illusion edged with seed pearls.
The bride carried a bouquet of calla lilies and blue cornflowers hand-tied with natural raffia.
Annie Poole was the maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Emma Small, sister of the bride; Jaime Jones, sister of the groom; and Stephanie Hurlburt, cousin of the groom.
Coe Smith was his brother’s best man and read a passage from the Bible.
Groomsmen were Ryan and Michael Ullrich, brothers of the bride, and Jimmy Zills, cousin of the groom.
Katlin Van Roekel, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Ben Jones, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.
Monica Fulcher directed the wedding.
Following the ceremony, a dinner, dance and music reception was held.
After their wedding trip to Disney World, Fla., the couple will reside in Mount Pleasant, S.C.
Events held before the wedding included a shower Feb. 27 hosted by Heather Van Roekel Turner and Jennifer Van Roekel; a couple’s shower March 13 hosted by Jaime Jones; a boat ride to a private island hosted by the couple during which time the couple presented gifts to their attendants; a bachelor/bachelorette party; and an engagement party hosted by Jean and Richard Van Roekel, the bride’s grandparents.
The groom’s mother and stepfather hosted a rehearsal dinner at Morgan Creek Restaurant in Isle of Palms.
