Spence - Hare
PRINCETON — Alexis Gregori Hare and Matthew Edward Spence exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 12 at 4 p.m. at Whitley Church, with the Rev. Andy Stovall and the Rev. Ferrell Hardison officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Charles Gregory and Jackie Aycock Hare of Pikeville and the granddaughter of Frances and Ed Wiggs of Fremont and the late Charles Ray Hare and Alex Hayes and Jo Ann Aycock of Pikeville.
She is a 2003 graduate of Rosewood High School and a 2007 graduate of Barton College with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She attends East Carolina University for a master’s degree in nursing education. She is employed as a nursing instructor at Lenoir Community College.
The groom is the son of Edward Earl and Vicky Bass Spence of Eureka and the grandson of Barbara Spence of Eureka, the late Earl Spence, Victoria Bass of Eureka and the late Charlie Bass Jr.
He is a 2003 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2008 graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in construction management. He is employed as a construction inspector at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white satin strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline with a ruched satin bodice adorned with crystals and beading with a ballgown skirt trimmed in beading and satin-covered buttons.
Her headpiece was a rhinestone tiara with a shoulder-length veil.
The bride carried a clutch bouquet of stargazer lilies, pink Gerber daisies, various pink roses and green buttons wrapped in black satin ribbon and tuxedoed with pink pins.
Brooke Radford was the maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Jessica Hare, Kristin Lassiter, Lauren Pierce, C. J. Radford and Caitlyn Weeks.
Ed Spence was the best man.
Groomsmen were Ryan Aycock, Matthew Hare, Tyler Mooring, Will Spence and Craig Spencer.
Ushers were Dave Elmore, Matt Kearney, Chase Massey, Jackson Massey and Brandon Pierce.
Wyatt Lassiter and Drew Spencer were ringbearers.
Lu Massey and Rhonda Greenup directed the wedding, facilitated by Kirsten Stovall. Presiding at the register was Bridgett Mooring. Casey Croom and Brantley Gurley distributed programs.
Gina Elmore and Kirsten Kearney greeted guests.
A program of wedding music was provided by Becky Brock, pianist, and Walton Aycock and Marcy Lamm, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the Steak Barn.
After their wedding trip to the western Caribbean, the couple will reside in Eureka.
Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower April 11 at Nahunta Friends meeting hosted by friends and family of the bride; a miscellaneous shower April 25 at Eureka Methodist Church hosted by family of the groom; a gift card shower May 2 at Nahunta Pork Center hosted by friends and family; a lingerie shower May 8 at the home of Dana Sasser hosted by friends of the bride; a pantry/recipe shower May 20 was hosted by Nina Jackson and Lisa Carter; a lawn and garden cookout May 30 at the home of Rhonda and David Elmore hosted by friends of the groom; and a Pampered Chef shower at Lenoir Community College by the bride’s co-workers.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Lane Tree.
