Lowry - Williams
Michelle Williams and William Lowry Jr. of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 24 at 3 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, with pastor James Powell officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Bertie Williams and the late George Williams of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Sylvester and Lillie Mae Jackson of Patetown.
She graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1989 with honors and cum laude in 1993 from Elizabeth City University with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and a minor in sociology. She is employed as a social worker at the Wayne County Department of Social Services.
The groom is the son of the late William and Delores Lowry of Harlem, N.Y., and the grandson of the late Hattie Mae Lowry of Harlem and the late Olar Dupres and Georgia Dupree of Queens, N.Y.
He graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in Queens in 1983 Shaw University in 2008 with a BSW in social work. He is serving in the United States Army.
The bride was escorted by her brother, Joe Exum, and given in marriage by her mother.
She wore a strapless white diamond satin gown with a sweetheart neckline and a beaded bodice mermaid skirted train.
Her headpiece was a chapel-length veil and a tiara band.
The bride carried a semi-cascade bouquet of ivory roses, miniature white calla lilies, white lisianthus, white Casablanca lilies, white dendrobium orchids, white waxfower, pale yellow spray roses, light orange spray roses, ruscus and tree fern.
Alissa Dobbin was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Latosha Cox and Tammy Mathis.
Swindell Isler Jr. was best man.
Groomsmen were Devante’ Lowry, son of the groom, and Deonta’ Ford, son of the bride.
Calvin Exum, nephew, was the usher.
Angel Cox was flower girl.
Letitia Isler directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Takeshia Exum, niece. Bernice Hinton, sister of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jerry Dortch, pianist and vocalist.
A reception was held at Dillard Alumni Building.
After their wedding trip to Shell Island Resort, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal luncheon March 25 hosted by co-workers; a shower April 3 hosted by Alissa Dobbin, friend, and Letitia Isler; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon at Olive Garden in Greenville.
The couple hosted a rehearsal outing.
