Westbrook-Smith
GRANTHAM — Laura Ann Smith and Alexander Alfred Westbrook exchanged vows Dec. 5 at Lane Tree Country Club, with pastor Pete Williams officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Albert and Emily Smith of LaGrange and the granddaughter of Allen and Laura Griffith of LaGrange, the late Kenneth Ackley Jones and Geneva Smith and the late Matt Smith of Kentucky.
She is a 2007 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and attends Wayne Community College. She is employed as an ER registration clerk at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The groom is the son of Douglas and Faye Westbrook of Grantham and the grandson of Ivor Tart of Grantham, the late Alfred Westbrook and the late William Earl Hayes.
He is a 2004 graduate of Southern Wayne High School. He is employed with Wayne County EMS.
The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless, satin A-line gown with a cuff neckline and a pleated sash at the waist with a sweep train.
Her headpiece was a veil with rhinestones on the edge to match the sash.
The bride carried a handtied bouquet of red roses and white stargazer lilies.
Amy Kimbrough of Grantham was her sister’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Tasha Bollin of Grantham, sister of the groom; Ashley Winders of Pikeville, friend of the bride; and Katlyn Kimbrough of Grantham, niece of the bride.
Doug Westbrook was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Chris Bollin of Grantham, brother-in-law of the groom; Fred Aldridge of Grantham, friend of the couple; and Chris Westbrook of Raleigh, brother of the groom.
Ushers were Tim Kimbrough of Grantham, brother-in-law of the bride, and Kent Best of Grantham, friend of the couple.
Emily Kimbrough, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Trey Flanagan was ringbearer.
Pam Gurley directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Laura Flanagan.
A program of wedding music was provided by Thomas Vick and Tracy Grady, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Lane Tree Country Club. Wendy Lane, friend of the bride, poured punch. Wanda Crawford, aunt of the groom, served the wedding cake.
The couple will reside in Grantham.
Events held before the wedding included a Pampered Chef shower Aug. 22 at the home of Nannette Sutton; a bridal shower Sept. 19 at Belfast Volunteer Fire Department hosted by Ellen Grice and Ann Letts, aunts of the bride; an around-the-house room-to-room shower Oct. 8 at Western Sizzlin hosted by Melissa Batton, Debbie Mitchell and Sophia Holloman; a brunch Oct. 17 at the home of Teresa Winders; a lingerie shower Nov. 14 at the home of Amy Kimbrough; and a bachelor party Nov. 21 at the home of the groom’s parents.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Dec. 4 at the home of Randy and Patricia Godwin.
