Ellen Marie Rouse and Christopher Justin Steed of Wake Forest exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Jan. 16 at 3 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with Todd Wiggins officiating.

The bride is the daughter of David and Sarah Rouse of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Ray Rouse Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Horty Rouse of Goldsboro and Rex and Betty Pass of Clemmons.

She is a 2009 graduate of Liberty University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She is employed at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem, Va., on a progressive care/step down unit.

The groom is the son of Robert Steed of Camden, Ark., and Jennifer Adkins of Wake Forest and the grandson of Lawrence Steed of Cleveland, Miss., Frankye Walker of Camden, Fred Mattingly of Covington, La., and Patsy Cumpton of Garland, Texas.

He is a 2009 graduate of Liberty University with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He will attend medical school at Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in August.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a formal satin gown with a fitted strapless bodice and A-line skirt. The bodice was embellished with gold and silver embroidery and pearl and crystal beading. The back of the bodice had satin-covered buttons that extended to the waist. The cathedral-length train was adorned with the same embroidery and beading.

Her headpiece was a cathedral-length veil adorned with pearls and crystals.

Sally Rouse of Goldsboro was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Gina Fornecker of Winston-Salem, Nina Kilian and Emily Reesman of Lynchburg, Va., Justine Moreno and Kristine Moreno of Miami, Fla., and Tamara Saliba of Dothan, Ala.

Jason Steed of Wake Forest was best man.

Groomsmen were Eric Eckenrod, Matthew Rouse and Sam Rouse of Goldsboro and Cody Steed of Camden.

Joshua Adkins and Jonathan Adkins were ringbearers.

Jane Walston directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Rachel Byrne. Noah Adkins and Jarod Steed distributed programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Anita Poland, pianist; Keith Burkhart and Matthew Rouse, vocalists; and Alice Campbell, organist.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Walnut Creek Country Club.

After their wedding trip to Ontario, Canada, the couple will reside in Christiansburg, Va.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower Oct. 31 hosted by Julie Dowden, Dot Hankins, Pam Ponzi and Gray Sullivan; a shower Nov. 1 hosted by Jennifer Adkins and Glenna Eckenrod; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon Jan. 15 hosted by Gail Edmondson, Kimberly Edmondson and Barbara West.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Adamsville Baptist Church fellowship hall.
