Haswell - Kearney
KENANSVILLE — Kirsten Leigh Haswell and Matthew Richard Kearney exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 30 at 6 p.m. at The Murray House, with Larry Ballard officiating.
The bride is the daughter of William Michael and Carolyn Kenan Haswell of Raleigh, and the granddaughter of the late William Yancey and Wilda Pierce Haswell of Raleigh and A.C. Kenan and the late Mary Elizabeth Wilson Kenan of Wallace.
She is a 2005 graduate of Broughton High School in Raleigh and a 2009 graduate of East Carolina University with a double major in English education and Latin. She is employed as a teacher.
The groom is the son of Richard Earl and Kathy Moore Kearney of Dudley, and the grandson of the late Richard Herman Kearney Jr. and Edna Hill Kearney of Snow Hill and the late Harold Lee Moore and Janet Lane Lucas of Turkey.
He is a 2003 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School. He attended Wayne Community College. He is employed as a property manager.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an elegant bridal gown with a V-neckline in the front and back and a fitted bodice with embellishments of ruffles cascading down the back of the gown. It featured a sheath-style skirt to accent the fitted embellishment of the ruffles and French Alencon lace throughout the gown. The waist was accented by an Alencon lace sash. The hem and sweep-length train were accented with French Alencon lace.
Her headpiece was a birdcage veil of French netting and lace.
The bride carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas and hypericum berries.
Corrie Haswell Walston of Chapel Hill was her sister’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Erin Gamble of Goldsboro, friend of the bride, Lauren Pierce of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride, and Jenna Kearney of Dudley, sister of the groom.
Richard Kearney of Dudley was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were John Kearney of Dudley, brother of the groom, Josh Warren of Greenville, cousin of the groom, and Brandon Pierce of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride.
Ushers were Matt Spence of Eureka and Ryan Aycock of Polly Watson, friends of the groom.
Rita Pierce and Gale Pittman directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Alexis Hare.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Murray House.
After their wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple now resides in Pikeville.
Events held before the wedding included an engagement party in January in Raleigh hosted by the bride’s parents in Raleigh; an engagement party in April hosted by Josh and Ashley Stutts, Amy Yelverton and Kathleen Connelly; a bridal shower in May hosted by the bride’s sister and mother; a bachelorette party in Emerald Isle hosted by Alexis Hare, Erin Gamble and Lauren Pierce; and a bachelor party in Myrtle Beach, S.C., hosted by friends.
A rehearsal dinner was held at The Mad Boar in Wallace.
