VanHouten - Rouse
APEX — Melissa Rae Rouse of Fuquay-Varina and Mark Richard VanHouten exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 18 at 3 p.m. at B and B Country Garden Inn, with pastor Jimmy Mercer officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Glenwood Carey of Seven Springs and Patricia Dunn Rouse of LaGrange and the granddaughter of the late Herman Carey and Annie Lee Rouse of Seven Springs, Nell Rae Kennedy of Goldsboro and the late James David Kennedy of Beulaville.
She is employed at WakeMed.
The groom is the son of Richard Gordon and Kathleen Mary VanHouten of Fuquay-Varina and the grandson of the late Gordon Lyle and the late Charles Abram of Elmira, N.Y., Helen Victoria VanHouten of Morrisville, Pa., and Verna Whitehouse Patterson of Staffordshire, England.
He is employed by the town of Cary.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless white sequin gown.
Her headpiece was a tiara with crystals and pearls and a four-layered veil with flowered design beads and pearls.
The bride carried a bouquet of white roses and 11 pink Gerber daisies.
Tricia Phillips was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Beth Gibbs and Mindy Rouse.
Richard VanHouten was best man.
Groomsmen were Chris Kellam and Jamie Rouse.
Honorary Bridesmaids were Jenny Hodges, Michelle McKeown and Crissie-Ann Russo.
Abbey and Ashley Gibbs were flower girls. Payton Rouse was ringbearer.
Sarah Broyer directed the wedding.
A program of wedding music was provided by Kevin Judicki, sound technician.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at B and B Country Garden Inn.
After a wedding trip to the Dominican Republic, the couple resides in Fuquay-Varina.
Events held before the wedding included a Christmas shower at the home of the bride’s mother hosted by the bride’s mother and sister-in-law; a miscellaneous shower at the home of Mindy Rouse hosted by the bride’s family; and a miscellaneous shower at the home of the bride hosted by Tricia Phillips.
