Kirby - Crawford
Katherine Amanda Crawford of Goldsboro and Stephen Chad Kirby exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 30 at 2 p.m. at Goldsboro Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark Thomas officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Thomas Gerald Crawford of Surf City and Terry Beasley Crawford of Goldsboro, the stepdaughter of Susan Crawford and the granddaughter of Mildred Crawford and the late James Crawford of Goldsboro and the late Alex Happy Beasley and Ester Beasley of Four Oaks.
She is a 2003 graduate of Rosewood High School and a 2007 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate degree in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The groom is the son of Ricky and Susie Kirby of Goldsboro and the grandson of Winnie Nelson Kirby, the late Donald E. Kirby of Goldsboro, Paul Strickland Jr. and Joyce Lamm Strickland of Goldsboro.
He is a 2003 honor graduate of Spring Creek High School and a 2007 and 2009 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate degree in applied science and an associate degree in nursing. He is employed as a registered nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white strapless satin A-line gown with aside-draped bodice and asymmetric skirt adorned with a pink satin sash and rose rhinestone broach.
Her headpiece was an elbow-length two-tiered veil with pink ribbon edging and crystal-embellished pink floral motifs attached to a crystal embellished tiara.
The bride carried a clutch bouquet of pink roses tied with pink ribbon.
Jessica Lord and Jennifer Donahoe were their sister’s matrons of honor.
Ricky Kirby was his son’s best man.
Derek Kirby, brother of the groom, was the groomsman.
Ushers were Ashley Forrest and Steven Capps, friends of the couple.
Sarah Katherine, daughter of the couple, was flower girl.
Robin Roberts, friend of the couple, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Judy Strickland, aunt of the groom. Ashli Johnson, cousin of the groom, distributed programs.
Stephanie Strickland, cousin of the groom, distributed birdseed bags tied with pink ribbons.
Special helpers were Debbie Capps, Ashley Barwick, Whitney Town and Cari Colton, friends of the couple, and Terri Forrest and Mark Renfroe, friends of the groom’s family.
A program of wedding music was provided by Libby Peedin, cousin of the groom, pianist; Jeff Lane, friend of the couple, vocalist; and Brad and Brenda Crumpler, sound technicians.
Following the ceremony, the groom’s parents hosted a reception in the church fellowship hall. Debbie Capps, friend of the couple, and Judy Strickland, aunt of the groom, greeted guest. Robin Roberts, friend of the couple, cut and served the three-tiered wedding cake. Lori Kearney and Gena Wall, friends of the groom’s family, poured punch. Special helpers were Jillneal Cotton, Tammy Campbell and Tina Houston, friends of the groom’s family.
After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S. C., the couple resides in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower March 28 hosted by the groom’s family; a miscellaneous shower May 16 hosted by Erin Henson and co-workers of the bride; a bachelorette shower May 22 hosted Erin Henson; and a bachelor party May 22 hosted by Matt Henson.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner May 29 in the church fellowship hall. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
