Brown - Johnson
PIKEVILLE — Jennifer Lynn Johnson and Shawn Wesley Brown exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 11 at 5 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church, with Pastor Barry Stallings officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Gregory Lee Johnson and Lisa Johnson Stallingsworth of Goldsboro, the stepdaughter of Andrew David Bass and the granddaughter of Billy Cecil Johnson of Goldsboro, Barbara Flippen Johnson and the late Patricia Lee Doreauk of Goldsboro and Thurman Lee Doreauk of Charlotte.
She is a 2006 honor graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and attends Wayne Community College for a nursing degree. She is employed as a certified nursing assistant at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The groom is the son of the late Nancy Rae Brown of Pikeville.
He is a 2004 graduate of Biddeford High School in Maine. He is employed as a customer service representative with AT&T.
The bride was escorted by her stepfather, Andrew David Bass, and given in marriage by her parents.
The bride wore a formal gown of white satin with a strapless neckline. The fitted bodice was embellished with re-embroidered Alencon lace and sequins and flowed into an A-line skirt beaded with beaded lace. Satin-covered bridal buttons cascaded down the beaded cathedral train.
Her headpiece was a single-tiered veil of silk illusion with a floral design of crystal beads and rhinestones at the edge.
Tammi Lynn Cartwright was her niece’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Bethany Nicole Bass, sister of the bride; Gracyn Noelle Johnson, cousin of the bride; and Lauren Nicole Crawford, friend of the bride.
Nicholas Evan Woods was best man.
Groomsmen were Colton Elliott Woods and Joshua Lee Davis, friends of the groom, and Bradley Cooper Johnson, cousin of the bride.
Ushers were Michael Christopher Johnson, Brandon Paul Johnson and Wynn Samuel Johnson, cousins of the bride.
Chloe Elyse Johnson, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Joshua David Bass, brother of the bride, was ringbearer.
Susan Parrott Johnson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Kourtney Brianne Bass, sister of the bride. Michael Thomas Cartwright Jr. and Peter Lee Cartwright, nephews of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Tammy James Kincaid, vocalist, and Walter and Landon Fleming.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.
After a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple resides in Pikeville.
Events held before the wedding included a shower Jan. 2 at Love Memorial Baptist Church hosted by Mrs. Michael Thomas Cartwight; a miscellaneous shower March 8 at the church hosted by friends and family of Pleasant Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church; and a bridal luncheon March 28 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery Douglas Kincaid of Goldsboro hosted by the Kincaids.
Mrs. Matthew Blake Crawford and Mrs. James Vernon Felts hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Pikeville Community Center.
