Whaley - Outlaw
Susan Lane Outlaw of Mount Olive and Jerry David Whaley of Dudley exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Nov. 23 at 12:30 p.m. at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Pastor Doug Bartlett officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Louise Woodcock of Mount Olive and the late Robert Lane of Warsaw and the stepdaughter of the late William Waitus Woodcock.
She attended Wayne Community College. She is employed at Strickland Insurance Group.
The groom is the son of Genell Whaley of Wallace and the late David John Whaley Jr.
He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science degree and East Carolina University with double masters degrees. He is employed as a math teacher at Mount Olive Middle School.
The bride was escorted by her grandson, Brandon Christopher Outlaw, and given in marriage by her family.
She wore a crinkle chiffon A-line gown with a beaded empire waist and a sweep train.
The bride carried calla lilies tied with ribbon.
Brooke Matteson Outlaw was her grandmother’s maid of honor.
Mark Patrick Whaley of Greenville was his father’s best man.
Ushers were Christopher Ray Outlaw of Mount Olive, son of the bride, and Timothy Whaley of Wallace, brother of the groom.
A program of wedding music was provided by Tim Grant and David Letchworth, sound technicians, and the bride, Kevin and Amy Mooring and the Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church choir.
After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., Ponce Inlet and Key Largo and Key West, Fla., the couple resides in Dudley.
Events held before the wedding included a pre-wedding celebration dinner Nov. 22 at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church fellowship hall hosted by Dale and Susan Overman; a shower reception hosted by co-workers of the groom; a get-to-know-the-families dinner hosted by Gerald and Brenda Smith of Pink Hill; a dinner party hosted by Tom and Iris Kilpatrick; and lingerie showers hosted by friends of the bride.
