Herring - Bazemore
LAGRANGE — Paige Shigeko Bazemore and Vernon Castle Herring III exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. at White Oak Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Greg Stancil officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Tadao Yoshida and Brenda Sasser Bazemore of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Judy Bazemore and the late Glenn Bazemore of Harrison, Tenn., and Lola Sasser and the late Raymond Sasser of Indian Springs.
She graduated from Wayne Country Day School in 2002 and cum laude from Barton College in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She was a North Carolina Nurse Scholar and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. She is employed as a registered nurse in the critical care unit at Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount.
The groom is the son of Vernon Castle Herring Jr. and Linda Smith Herring of LaGrange and the grandson of the late Vernon and Virginia Herring of LaGrange and the late David and Beatrice Smith of Ayden.
He graduated from Bethel Christian Academy of Kinston in 2000 and Mount Olive College with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice. He is a member of the criminal justice honor society. He is employed as a dental technician at V.H.D.L in Rocky Mount.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white strapless organza corset gown with beaded metallic lace on the bodice, skirt and chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was a crystal tiara with rhinestone flowers and metallic leaves with an elbow-length veil, two-tier with beaded scallop edges.
The bride carried white silk roses.
Nichole Ruiz was her friend’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Jenna Sutton, niece of the groom, and Meghan Marallo, Jessica Holliday and Miranda Pejera, friends of the bride.
Vernon Castle Herring Jr. was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Jared Hobb, brother-in-law of the groom, and Matthew Kennedy, Bradley Sasser and Michael Joyner, friends of the groom.
Ushers were David Dawson and Julian Brown.
Kate Whitcomb, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Jared Hobbs Jr., nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.
Amy Hobbs, sister of the groom, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Sara Webster, friend of the bride. Andy Whitcomb, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Joni Rhodes, pianist, and Carla Dawson and Julian Brown, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the family life center. Pat Nelson, aunt of the groom, cut the wedding cake. Susie and Gene Sasser, uncle and aunt of the bride, greeted guests. Special helpers were Chris Sasser, Susie Sasser, Linda Kearney, Angie Kearney, Violet Goodson and Dot Kennedy.
After a wedding trip to Las Vegas, Nev., the couple reside in LaGrange.
Events held before the wedding included a lawn and garden shower Oct. 5 at the home of Susie and Gene Sasser hosted by family of the bride; a bridesmaids’ luncheon Oct. 4 at the Texas Steakhouse; a shower Oct. 1 hosted by co-workers of the bride; a wedding shower Sept. 7 at the family life center hosted by family and friends of the groom; and a bridal shower Sept. 5 at the home of the couple hosted by Nichole Ruiz.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Oct. 17 at the Baron and the Beef in Kinston.
