Massey - Williams
MOUNT OLIVE — Lauren Beth Williams and Jesse William Massey exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. at Mount Olive College crosswalk, with Donald Massey, father of the groom, officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dean and Mary Beth Williams of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of George and Sue Williams of Goldsboro and Carl and Jessie Gibbs of Burgaw.
She is a 2005 graduate of Wayne Christian School and a 2008 graduate of Wayne Community College with an Associate degree in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The groom is the son of Donald and Penny Massey of Princeton and the grandson of Hazel Massey, the late James Massey, Lora Jane Johnson and the late Tommy Johnson of Princeton.
He is a 2004 graduate of Princeton High School, a 2005 graduate of Johnston Community College with a certification in firefighting and a 2007 graduate of Wayne Community College’s basic law enforcement training program. He is employed as a deputy sheriff with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Department.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white strapless silk A-line gown with a chiffon overlay. The bodice was beaded with ruching on the chiffon. The gown had a chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was a white elbow-length veil with bugle beaded trim and a tiara.
The bride carried a clutch bouquet of pink, yellow and orange Gerber daisies with white hydrangea mixed throughout.
Michelle Foss was her friend’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Rachel Coggins, friend of the bride; Katie Proctor, cousin of the bride; and Brittny Pittman, cousin of the groom.
Donald “Ponch” Massey Jr. was his brother’s best man.
Groomsmen were Robert Bridgers and Lloyd Godwin, friends of the groom, and Eric Williams, brother of the bride.
Ushers were Adam Combs, cousin of the bride, and Josh Woodard, friend of the groom.
Victoria Combs, cousin of the bride, and Kasey Johnson, cousin of the groom, were junior bridesmaids.
Emma Williams, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Tanner Williams, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer.
Connie Hill and Amanda Hill, cousins of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was April Holland, friend of the couple.
Taylor Williams, cousin of the bride, greeted guests with water.
A program of wedding music was provided by Terri Kornegay, friend of the bride’s family, pianist; Shannon Prasad, friend of the bride, vocalist; and Jay Kornegay, friend of the bride’s family, guitarist and vocalist.
Following the ceremony, a dessert reception was held in the Murphy Center at Mount Olive College. Jill Watkins-Carden and Rebecca Carden, friends of the couple, cut the wedding cake. Noah Carden, friend of the couple, distributed sparklers.
After a wedding trip to Florida, the couple reside in Princeton.
Events held before the wedding included a lawn and garden shower Aug. 23 hosted by Donald “Ponch” Massey; a miscellaneous shower Aug. 17 at Stoney Creek Church hosted by family and friends of the bride; a household shower Aug. 9 at Crossroads Church of God of Prophecy hosted by family of the groom; and a lingerie shower July 11 at the home of Michelle Foss.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Sept. 5, 2008 at Mount Olive Church of God of Prophecy.
