Thornton - Braswell
Jennifer Lynne Braswell and David Dean Thornton exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. at Love Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Richard Toler and the Rev. Frank Purvis officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Ronald Adrian and Sharon Painter Braswell of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Ruby Forehand and the late Ralph Adrian Braswell of Goldsboro and the late James Thomas Painter and Gertrude Chambers Gaster of Durham.
She graduated from Wayne Christian School and East Carolina University with a degree in elementary education. She is employed as a teacher at Eastern Wayne Elementary School.
The groom is the son of Ammie Dean and Sandra Waddell Thornton of Grantham and the grandson of Kathleen Hughes Thornton and the late Percy Clay Thornton of Grantham and Hazel Davis Waddell and the late Aaron Barnes Waddell of Goldsboro.
He is a graduate of Southern Wayne High School and North Carolina State University with degrees in electrical and computer engineering. He is employed as an engineer at Tri-County Electric.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a white satin A-line gown decorated with beads and daisy designs.
Her headpiece was a tiara beaded with pearls with a veil trimmed in white flowers.
The bride carried a bouquet of chrysanthemums and daisies.
Bethany Braswell was her sister’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Crystal Williford, friend of the bride, and Karen Thornton and Katlyn Thornton, sisters of the groom.
Dean Thornton was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Paul Thornton, brother of the groom; Bradley Bradshaw, friend of the groom; and Lewis Braswell, brother of the bride.
Jade Pendleton, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Tanner Capps, cousin of the groom, was ringbearer.
Jennifer Toler directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs was Stephanie Worrell, friend of the bride.
A program of wedding music was provided by Ryan Fields.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the church.
After a wedding trip to the North Carolina mountains, the couple reside in Grantham.
Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower at Eureka Christian Church hosted by the groom’s family; a miscellaneous shower at the home of Susan Joyner of Goldsboro hosted by Ms. Joyner; a miscellaneous shower at the home of Earl and Bonnie Johnson of Youngsville hosted by the bride’s family; a miscellaneous shower at the home of Hazel Albert of Rosewood hosted by the bride’s family; a lingerie shower at the home of Bethany Braswell of Goldsboro, sister of the bride, hosted by Ms. Braswell; a miscellaneous shower at Love Church hosted by the church; and a dinner and miscellaneous shower at the Steak Barn hosted by Tri-County Electric.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Aug. 1 at Love Memorial Baptist Church.
