Stutts - Yelverton
EUREKA — Ashley Vernise Yelverton and Joshua Edwards Stutts of Fremont exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 9 at 3 p.m. at Eureka United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ed Drew and Dr. Curtis Rains officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Robert Carl and Betsy Thomas Yelverton of Faro and the granddaughter of the late Robert Yelverton and Virginia Flowers Yelverton of Eureka and Bertha Pridgen Thomas and the late Robert Bruce Thomas Sr. of Faro.
She graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 2001 and attends East Carolina University majoring in elementary education. She is employed as an intern at BFNT.
The groom is the son of Donald Glenn and Jane Edwards Stutts of Archdale and the grandson of Jean Hawkins Stutts and the late Glenn Stutts of Norman and Joyce Holmes Edwards and the late John Ira Edwards of Kinston.
He graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 2002 and Wayne Community College in 2004 with an associate degree in turfgrass. He is employed as an assistant superintendent at Kinston Country Club.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless ivory gown with teal accent on the front and train. The satin dress was re-embroidered with lace, crystal beading and sequins. The embroidery cascaded down the back of the gown and encircled the hemline, which was trimmed with embroidered lace with a flowing semi-cathedral teal train.
Her headpiece was a fingertip-length veil with lace embroidery along the hemline.
The bride carried a bouquet of pink daisies.
Amanda Gray was matron of honor, while Amy Yelverton was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Becky Brown, Kristen Kelly and Melissa Stutts.
Don Stutts was best man.
Groomsmen were Donnie Stutts, Vann Lancaster, Shannon Proctor and Daniel Newsome.
Presley and Allie Gray were flower girls.
Jane Thomas directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Dottie Thomas. Sydney Langley distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Lu Massey, pianist, and Julia Lancaster, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at the church fellowship hall. Mr. and Mrs. Josh Stutts, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Yelverton and Mr. and Mrs. Don Stutts greeted guests.
After a wedding trip to Emerald Isle, the couple reside in Fremont.
Events held before the ceremony included a bridesmaids’ luncheon July 26 at the home of Jane Thomas hosted by Jane Thomas, Elizabeth Lee and Rhonda Davis; a honey-do shower July 12 hosted by Rachel and Curtis Rains, aunt and uncle of the groom; a bridal shower June 29 at Eureka United Methodist fellowship hall hosted by the bride’s family; a bachelor party June 27 through 29 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., hosted by friends of the groom; a bachelorette party June 20 through 22 and June 28 in Emerald Isle and Greenville hosted by the friends of the bride; and an engagement party April 5 at Sleepy Creek Club House hosted by Matt Kearney, Kirsten Haswell and friends of the couple.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Eureka United Methodist fellowship hall.
