Hinson - Riggs
DURHAM — Cassie Riggs and the Rev. Elton Adam Hinson of Durham exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 21 at 2 p.m. at Shady Grove Free Will Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dann Patrick and the Rev. Brent Patrick officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Douglas Riggs of Durham and Missy Williams Riggs of Durham and the granddaughter of Preston and Louise Riggs of Durham and Richard and Linda Dickson of Mebane.
She is a graduate of Liberty Christian Academy in Durham and Southeastern Free Will Baptist College in Wendell in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in secondary education. She is employed as a high school English teacher at First Free Will Baptist Christian Academy in Florence, S.C.
The groom is the son of James Z. Hinson III and Cindy Davis Hinson of Goldsboro, the grandson of the late Gordon Sugg and Nannie Betty Hinson, the late Thurman E. Davis Sr. and Irene Corbett Davis of Goldsboro and the stepgrandson of Mary Hinson.
He graduated from Faith Christian Academy and Southeastern Free Will Baptist College in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in pastoral theology. He is employed as a youth pastor at First Free Will Baptist Church in Florence.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
Lauren Rouse was her college friend’s matron of honor, while Tierney Riggs, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Heather Foy, sister of the bride; Alice Cordell, sister of the groom; and Rebecca Rayle and Heather Chappell, friends of the bride.
James Z. Hinson III was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Rev. Christian Powell; Matthew Cordell, brother-in-law of the groom; James Chestnutt, Jordan Chestnutt and Jonathan Chestnutt, cousins of the groom; and Justin Smith and Jason Patel, friends of the groom.
Kayleigh Ragan, cousin of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid.
Alaina Stone, cousin of the groom, was flower girl. Jordan Foy, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer.
Amie Woods directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Vickie Rockmore. Tracy Dunn distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jan Haas, pianist; the Rev. Zack and Hope Hinson, brother and sister-in-law of the groom, vocalists; and Mike Dunn, sound technician.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception in the church fellowship hall.
After a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., and Jamica, the couple reside in Florence.
Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon June 20 at Fujison at Brier’s Creek; a shower May 24 hosted by ladies of Faith Church; a shower May 3 in Durham hosted by ladies of Shady Grove Church; a lingerie shower April 16 at the home of Lauren Rouse hosted by Ms. Rouse; and a shower April 4 at the home of Paula Patrick hosted by Ms. Patrick.
The groom’s parents hosted a pig picking luau rehearsal dinner at the home of the groom in Durham.
