Slozak - Burkhardt
WILMINGTON — Kimberly Elizabeth Burkhardt of Wilmington and Kristopher Jon-Mikael Slozak of Wilmington exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 5 at 5:30 p.m. at Kenan Chapel in Landfall, with the Rev. Penelope Morningstar officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Stephen and Norma Burkhardt of Greensboro and the granddaughter of the late Donald and Betty Burkhardt of Newark, Del., and Barbara Calvarese and the late Augustine Calvarese Sr. of Newark, Del.
She is a graduate of Wilson High School in Pennsylvania and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, and is a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She is employed as a promotions and sales assistant at NextMedia Group.
The groom is the son of Richard and Betty Jo Slozak of Goldsboro and the grandson of Josephine and the late Joseph Slozak of Palmer, Mass., and the late Walter and Audrey Bryant of Rich Square.
He is a graduate of Goldsboro High School and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and is a member of Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity. He is employed as a project manager at Celerant Consulting.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a flowing white gown with lace and white beading and carried a bouquet of mixed flowers, including hydrangea, lilies, roses and tulips.
Dedra Orange was the maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Tiffany Burkhardt, sister of the bride; Taryn Slozak, sister of the groom; and Lauren Fuller and Katherine Broadway, friends of the bride.
Jamie Wanner served as best man.
Groomsmen were Shawn Horton, Mike Triggiano, Carl Leatherman and Parrish Simmons, friends of the groom.
Nancy Franks directed the wedding. Amber Phillips, cousin of the groom, distributed programs.
Music was provided by Tom Shaw, vocalist, and Maura Kropke, violinist.
The bride’s parents hosted a reception at St. Thomas Preservation Hall in Wilmington.
After a wedding trip to St. Martin, French West Indies, the couple will reside in Wilmington.
A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at Rafaella in Wilmington.
