Lancaster - Deans
PIKEVILLE — Jennifer Leann Deans of Pikeville and Gary “Goobie” Miller Lancaster Jr. of Pikeville exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 26 at 4 p.m. at Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, with Pastor Don Sauls officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Danny Ross and Jeanette Smith Deans of Lucama and the granddaughter of the late Donald and Louise Deans of Lucama and the late Turner and Naomi Smith of Lucama.
She graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School and attended Wayne Community College. She is employed as an office manager at Advantage Hospice and Home Care.
The groom is the son of Gary Miller Lancaster Sr. and Margaret Person Lancaster of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Lester and Ellen Jones Person of Goldsboro and Joyce Vail and the late Charles Miller Lancaster of Pikeville.
He graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School and received a machining engineer degree from Wayne Community College. He is employed as a machinist at UGL Unico of Bridgestone-Firestone.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless gown of white duchess satin by Mori Lee featuring embroidery and crystal beading on the dropped waist bodice and hemline. The A-line gown had double bands of duchess satin trimming the hemline and featured a chapel-length train.
She wore an elbow-length veil of soft illusion trimmed in white satin and carried a bouquet of dark and light pink silk roses tied with green satin ribbon.
Candace Deans, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Millie Pipkin of Kenly, cousin of the bride; April Vick of Pikeville, cousin of the groom; Beth Daughtry of Pikeville, Kristin Murphy of Wilson, Chelsey Howell of Goldsboro, Katie Mullins of Patetown and Tracy Owens of Fremont.
Gary Miller Lancaster Sr., father of the groom, served as his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Danny Beasley of Pikeville, cousin of the groom; Daniel Deans of Lucama, brother of the bride; Curtis Howell of Patetown, Brett West of Pikeville, Chris Waddell of Greenville, Drew Brock of Raleigh and Anthony Pittman of Goldsboro.
Emma Best, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Alex Deans, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer.
Michelle Pitts, cousin of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Dana and Derek Best, sister and brother-in-law of the groom. Karen Hodge and Candice Phillips, friends, distributed programs.
Decorations were handled by Kathy Pipkin, aunt of the bride.
Wedding music was provided by Jeff Lane and Steven Reaves, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, a reception was hosted by the couple’s parents at Lane Tree Country Club in Goldsboro.
After a wedding trip to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple reside in Pikeville.
On the eve of the wedding, the couple’s parents hosted a rehearsal party at the bridal couple’s home in Pikeville.
Events held before the wedding included a stock-the-bar party hosted by Anthony Pittman and Tracy Owens on Jan. 26, a bridal shower and handyman shower hosted by the bride and groom’s families on Feb. 24, a bachelorette weekend in Charleston, S.C., given by the bridesmaids and friends of the bride on March 7, a bachelor weekend in Myrtle Beach, S.C., given by the groomsmen and the groom’s friends on March 21 and a bridal luncheon at the bride’s home in Pikeville hosted by the bride’s mother, the bridegroom’s mother and Kathy Pipkin, the bride’s aunt on April 25.
