Hales - Mills
MOUNT OLIVE — Donnarie Paige Mills of Greenville and Kenneth Allen Hales Jr. of Winterville exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 31 at 4 p.m. at Eureka Christian Church, with Frank Purvis officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Wayne and Donna Mills of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Roy and the late Jean Mills of Goldsboro, Jean Cotton of Goldsboro and the late Buck Cotton Jr. of Reidsville.
She graduated in 2006 from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a B.S. in Environmental Science. She is employed as a Resource Conservation Specialist at Pitt County Soil & Water.
The groom is the son of Kenneth and Linda Hales of Mount Olive and the grandson of Gertrude and the late Clifton Hales of Pikeville, Thelma Britt of Mount Olive and the late Gurney Britt of Mount Olive.
He is a 2000 magna cum laude graduate from North Carolina State University with a B.S. in agriculture and extension education and a minor in crop science and a 2007 graduate from East Carolina University with a Master in Business Administration. He is employed as a loan officer at AgCarolina Financial.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an ivory gown of satin, enhanced with a sweetheart neckline. The fitted bodice of Schiffli lace was accented with clusters of sequins and pearl accents. The empire waistline embellished with a sequin brooch led to a flowing skirt with beaded accents sweeping to a cathedral train. The bride also wore a crystal and pearl tiara with a chapel length veil adorned with sequins.
She carried a bouquet of white roses accented with stephanotis.
Pam Stewart served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Caroline Green, Keaton Bradley, Alexis Long and Jessica Starling.
Kenneth Hales served as his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Danny Thornton, Wesley Head, Jeremy Weeks and Vince Lane.
Kelsey Kennedy and Morgan Kennedy were flower girls. Alex Bradley was ringbearer.
Debbie Brake directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Betty Smith. Kathy Barrow distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Brad Collier, pianist, and Cristina Jones, Renee Hinson and Carlton Hinson, vocalists.
Immediately after the ceremony, a reception was held in the Eureka Christian Church Fellowship Hall.
After a wedding trip to Alaska the couple reside in Winterville.
A rehearsal dinner was held at Eureka Christian Church Fellowship Hall on May 30 at 6 p.m.
Events held before the wedding included a bachelor party at Myrtle Beach, S.C., given by the groomsmen on Feb. 23, an engagement party given by friends at the University Chophouse in Greenville on March 1, an engagement party given by parents of the bride in Goldsboro on March 8, a miscellaneous shower give by the Sutton family at Holt’s Lake in Smithfield on April 12, a couple shower hosted by Alex Long and Jessica Starling in Farmville on April 13, a floating bridal shower given by family and friends at Eureka Christian Church in Mount Olive on April 26, a miscellaneous bridal shower given by Norlette Adams and Thelma Mills in Goldsboro on April 27, a bachelorette party given by the bridesmaids in Wilmington on May 9, a lingerie shower given by Donna Mills and Jean Cotton at the Bluewater Restaurant in Wilmington on May 10, a bridal luncheon given by Pam Stewart and Nita Britt at the Royal Tea Room in Goldsboro on May 17 and a rehearsal dinner given by parents of the groom at Eureka Christian Church Fellowship Hall in Mount Olive on May 30.
