EMPORIA, Va. — Carmena Williams Best of Emporia, Va., and Timothy Wayne Owens exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 26 at 3 p.m. at Elnora Jarrell Worship Center, with Pastor Valley K. Woodley officiating.
The bride is the daughter of James M. Williams Jr. and Carmen Best Williams of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Esther Williams and the late Marlon Williams of Goldsboro and Nina Mcrae of Fort Washington, Md.
She earned an associate degree in medical technology and pathological science while serving in the Army. She is pursuing an RN degree. She is employed as a medical laboratory technician at Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center.
The groom is the son of the late Casserine Peebles of Emporia, Va.
He is employed in environmental services at Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
Latika MCleod was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Regina Ayanna Williams and Jasmine Katura Williams, daughters of the bride.
Frankie Banks was best man.
Groomsmen were Willie Samuel Best and Ezekiel Best, sons of the bride.
Ushers were Ennis Faison, Brianna Hunter, Marquetta Easter, Mariah Anderson and Jamar Williams.
Angel Faison and Myiah Mccoy were flower girls.
Daphine Taylor directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Mariah Anderson. Marquetta Easter distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Tameca Woodley, Jamar Williams, Michelle Crawley and Darla, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Elnora Jarrell Worship Center.
After a wedding trip to Williamsburg, Va., the couple reside in Emporia.
Events held before the wedding include a surprise bridal party at the home of the bride hosted by Daphne Taylor.
