Outlaw - Powell
Jessica Marie Powell and Christopher William Outlaw exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 26 at 4 p.m. at the home of Gary and Melanie Smith, with Joshua Smith officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Johnny Max Powell and Patricia Lynn Williams of Mount Olive and the granddaughter of Shelby Powell, the late James “Jimmy” Powell Sr., Louise Williams and the late Frank Williams Jr. of Mount Olive.
She graduated from Wayne Community College with a degree in medical assisting. She is employed as a certified medical assistant at Goldsboro Skin Center.
The groom is the son of William Glenn Outlaw and Sharon Outlaw Herring of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late William E. and Jean Outlaw of Goldsboro and the late James and Louise Benge of Jay, Okla.
He graduated from Eastern Wayne High School. He is employed at Roma Foods in Raleigh.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an organza white halter trumpet-style gown with ribbon detailing on the bodice and skirt. The back featured organza covered buttons and a sweep train.
Her headpiece was a white two-tiered veil trimmed in the same ribbon as the dress.
The bride carried a bouquet of long-stemmed pink and white Gerber daisies.
Kristy Tillman was her cousin’s maid of honor.
William Glenn Outlaw was his son’s best man.
Ushers were Gary Smith and Travis Howell, friends of the couple.
Hope and Faith Shader, nieces of the groom, were flower girls.
Evelyn Sutton, aunt of the groom, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Melinda Vasquez, cousin of the bride. Kelsey Vazquez, cousin of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Chad Smith, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held.
After a wedding trip to the Dominican Republic, the couple reside in Mount Olive.
Events held before the wedding included an engagement party/lingerie shower April 12 hosted by Gary and Melanie Smith, friends of the couple; a shower March 30 at Elroy Fire Department hosted by the groom’s family; a a shower March 12 at a tea room hosted by Goldsboro Skin Center; and a shower Feb. 24 at the home of Martin and Maryann Powell.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at the Village Green Steakhouse.
