Owens-Kearney
CAROLINA BEACH — Rebecca Dee Kearney of Brunswick and Clifton Lane Owens of Brunswick exchanged vows in a double-ring beach ceremony March 29 at 4 p.m., with the Rev. C.B. Owens, father of the groom, officiating.
The bride is the daughter of James “Bo” and Mary Kearney of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Emmette and Minnie Davis of Pikeville.
She is a 1998 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She is employed as a third-grade teacher with Whiteville City Schools.
The groom is the son of Rev. C.B. and Beverly Owens of Wilmington and the grandson of Lucien and Harriet Lane of Fredericksburg, Va.
He is a 2002 graduate of Cape Fear Community College with a degree in criminal justice. He is employed as a store manager at Hibbett’s Sports.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her family.
She wore a white satin A-line full-length strapless gown detailed with embroidery at the neckline and along the gathered side drape.
Her headpiece was a two-tiered fingertip-length white veil with a pencil edge and rhinestone starlight design.
The bride carried a bouquet of two dozen red roses wrapped in a white satin sash.
Laura Willt directed the wedding.
After a wedding trip to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, the couple reside in Brunswick.
Events held before the wedding included a tool shower March 8 at the home of the bride’s parents hosted by the brothers of the bride; a bridal shower March 5 at Edgewood Elementary School hosted by co-workers of the bride; a bridal shower Feb. 24 at Free Chapel Church hosted by family of the bride; and a lingerie shower Feb. 8 at the home of Amanda Tedder hosted by friends of the bride.
