Harris - Kearney
Melissa Hope Kearney and Jesse Carlton Harris exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. at St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Donnie R. Kearney and Kevin Futrell officiating.
The bride is the daughter of the Rev. Donnie and Virginia Kearney of Pikeville and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G.F. Woodard of Four Oaks, the late Mildred Kearney of Pikeville and the late Raymond Kearney of Maine.
She is a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School. She is employed at Cooper Standard.
The groom is the son of Phil and Sue Harris of Newton Grove and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Thornton of Four Oaks and the late Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Harris of Newton Grove.
He graduated from South Johnston High School. He is self-employed.
The bride wore a white satin ballgown adorned with beaded lace and back button detailing with a cathedral train with cutout lace appliqués.
Her headpiece was a rhinestone tiara attached to a fingertip veil.
Misty Kearney Dunn of Mount Olive was her sister’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Meredith Kearney Brown of Hobgood and Michelle Kearney Futrell of Kenly, sisters of the bride.
Philip Harris of Newton Grove was his brother’s best man.
Groomsmen were David Dunn of Mount Olive, brother-in-law of the bride, and Jonathan Hayes of Smithfield, friend of the groom.
Emily Dunn of Mount Olive, niece of the bride, and Cassie Harris of Newton Grove, niece of the groom, were junior bridesmaids.
Robin Brown of Hobgood and Ginger Futrell of Kenly, nieces of the bride, were flower girls. Jesse Futrell of Kenly, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer.
Ernestine Kearney Hardee of Pikeville and Jane Woodard Maynard of Smithfield, aunts of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Sandra Brown Overton of Pikeville, cousin of the bride. Justin Harris of Newton Grove, nephew of the groom, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Rose Woodard Massey of Goldsboro, aunt of the bride, vocalist.
After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple reside in Newton Grove.
Events held before the wedding included a girls night out and lingerie shower Nov. 3 at Meadow Restaurant and a miscellaneous shower Oct. 6 at Saulston Fire Department hosted by the couple’s families.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Dec. 1 at their home.
