Dixon - Croom
KINSTON — Melissa Ann Croom and Jonathan Charles Dixon exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Dec. 15 at 6 p.m. at Freedom Fellowship Church, with the Rev. Mike Dixon officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Melvin E. and Mary Ann Croom of Kinston and the granddaughter of Sybil G. Croom, the late James Earl Croom and Jesse M. and Gladys B. Croom of Kinston.
She is a 2004 graduate of South Lenoir High School and a 2007 graduate of Lenoir Community College with an Associate Applied Sciences degree. She is employed as a certified medical assistant at the Heart Center of Eastern Carolina of New Bern.
The groom is the son of the Rev. Steve and Cindy Dixon of Kinston and the grandson of the late John and Mildred Dixon of Star and Charles and Betty Hinson of West End.
He is a 2002 graduate of South Lenoir High School and a 2005 graduate of Lenoir Community College with a degree in business administration. He is employed as a financial services officer at the State Employees Credit Union.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a strapless white A-line gown of luster satin embellished with crystal beading and embroidery. It had a semi-cathedral train.
Her headpiece was a pearl and rhinestone tiara with a two-tiered veil with crystal accent edging.
The bride carried a bouquet of red poinsettias accented with glitter, crystal beading and Christmas greenery. She also carried a white lace-trimmed Bible.
Susan Croom of Goldsboro was her cousin’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Heather Rouse of Kinston, friend of the bride; Tabitha Dixon of Kinston, cousin of the groom; Megan Halso of Goldsboro, cousin of the bride; and Christen Dixon of Hookerton, sister-in-law of the groom.
Steve Dixon was best man.
Groomsmen were Eric Dixon of Hookerton, Caleb Dixon and Matthew Dixon of Kinston, brothers of the groom; Justin Rouse of Kinston, friend of groom; and Adam Croom of Goldsboro, cousin of bride.
Katie Croom of Kinston, cousin of the bride, was the miniature bride.
Maecy Croom of Kinston, cousin of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid. Logan Dixon of Hookerton, nephew of the groom, was the miniature groom.
Sofia Croom of Raleigh, cousin of bride, was flower girl.
Melissa D. Croom directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Heather Howard. Tyler Keel distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Michael Lane, musician and sound technician, and Michael Daughety, DJ.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Hampton Inn of Kinston. Pam Croom and Tammy Moye, aunts of the bride, served the wedding cake.
After a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., the couple reside in Kinston.
Events held before the wedding included a bachelor party Dec. 8 at Galaxy Lanes hosted by brothers of the groom; a girls night out Nov. 27 at the home of Laura Fritz hosted by Ms. Fritz, Cody Gilliam and Heather Rouse; a Christmas shower Nov. 6 at the home of Sheila Burkett hosted by Ms. Burkett; a wedding shower Oct. 6 at Freedom Fellowship hosted by the groom’s family and the ladies auxiliary; a wedding shower Sept. 23 at Sandy Bottom Baptist Church fellowship hall hosted by the bride’s family; and a Christmas-in-July engagement party July 29 at the Arts Council hosted by the couple’s parents.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at the Kinstonian Restaurant.
