Fabrega - Marcello
NEW ORLEANS — Elizabeth Wharton Marcello and Dr. Gustavo “Gus” Adolfo Fabrega exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel, with Father Byron Miller and the Rev. Thomas W. Papazoglakis officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Robert John and Lesley Wharton Marcello of Thibodaux, La., and the granddaughter of Rosalie Johnson and the late John Joseph Marcello of Thibodaux, Mr. and Mrs. John Sherard Wharton of Goldsboro and the late June Young Wharton.
She is a 1999 graduate of Edward Douglas White Catholic High School in Louisiana and a 2003 graduate of Loyola University New Orleans. She is a member of Alpha Chi Omega fraternity. She is employed as an admissions counselor at Loyola University New Orleans.
The groom is the son of Dr. Ruben Dario and Antonia Ivette Mir de Fabrega of Baton Rouge, La., and the grandson of the late Dr. Ruben Dario and Sofia Lopez de Fabrega and the late Miguel Mir of Panama City, Panama, and Della Enid of Baton Rouge.
He is a 1997 graduate of Bishop Sullivan High School in Louisiana, a 2000 graduate of Louisiana State University and 2007 graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine of New Orleans. He is employed as an anesthesiology resident at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a diamond white Alencon princess line gown with cap sleeves, handbeaded with seed pearls and Swarovski crystals and a self train bustled at center back.
Her headpiece was a fingertip veil.
The bride carried a handheld cluster of ivory roses with greens.
Margaret Johnson Marcello of Thibodaux was her twin sister’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Marianne Ruth Adkins of Maineville, Ohio; Dr. Sarah Elizabeth Frost of New York City, N.Y.; Stephanie Audrey Hotard of New Orleans; and Dionne Ordoyne Magness of Gretna, La.
Dr. Miguel Gerardo Fabrega of Marrero, La., was his brother’s best man.
Groomsmen were Patrick Thomas Hymel of Baton Rouge, Matthew Simon Roussel of Austin, Texas, Oliver Joseph Serrano of Dallas, Texas and James Porter White of Pensacola, Fla.
Ushers were Jacob Barrow Daigle of Shreveport, La., and Eric Joseph Wilkinson of New Orleans.
Isabel Sofia Fabrega of Marrero, niece of the groom, and Wendy Lucille Wharton of Norman, Okla., cousin of the bride, were flower girls.
A program of wedding music was provided by Melissa Brocato, vocalist, and Brian Morgan, organist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at New Orleans Marriott.
After a wedding trip to Nassau, Bahamas, the couple reside in Alexander, Ark.
Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon at Commander’s Palace in New Orleans hosted by the bride and her mother; a linen and lingerie shower hosted by aunts and cousins of the bride; and a shower hosted by the bridesmaids.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Dec. 13 at Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House of New Orleans.
