Nelson - Plasky
KINSTON — Mary Elizabeth Plasky and Bryan Patrick Nelson exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. at the home of the parents, with Pastor Juanita Crawford officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Joseph G. and Sandra Sue Plasky of Kinston and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Plasky of Taylors, S.C., and the late Louis Day and Mrs. Day of Clarksburg, W.Va.
She was employed with the Wayne County Department of Social Services.
The groom is the son of retired Col. David and Kathy Nelson of New Bern and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Russell H. Nelson of Prairie du Sac, Wisc., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Shonsey of Denver, Colo.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a classic titanic dress.
Her headpiece was a Swarovski crown of silver beads and pearls.
The bride carried an autumn bouquet.
Stephanie Stepps was matron of honor.
Kevin Nelson was best man.
A program of wedding music was provided by James Morris and Matt Castlone, guitarists.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a dinner reception at Kinston Country Club.
After a wedding trip to Charleston, S.C., the couple reside in New Bern.
Events held before the wedding included a cocktail shower Nov. 3 at the home of Jane Walter in Kinston hosted by Ms. Walter and Dr. and Mrs. Frank Sabiston; a brunch Oct. 7 at the home of the parents hosted by the bride’s sisters; a cocktail party and cookout Oct. 5 at the home of the bride’s sister and brother-in-law; and a shower July 19 hosted by co-workers of the bride.
