Davenport - Sears
RIEGELWOOD — Lauren Annette Sears of Raleigh and Michael Bradley Davenport of Raleigh exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 23 at 4:30 p.m. at Riegelwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jeff Clark officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Paul and Janet Sears of Wallace and the granddaughter of Marlene Sears of Riegelwood, the late Herman Sears, Billy Bordeaux of Whiteville and the late Annette Gore Bordeaux.
She is a 2001 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2005 graduate of North Carolina State University School of Education. She was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. She is employed as an eighth-grade math teacher at Davis Drive Middle School of Cary.
The groom is the son of Ron and Jane Davenport of Dothan, Ala., and the grandson of Juanita Davenport of Laurens, S.C., the late John Davenport and the late Robert and Cornelia Clark.
He graduated from Piedmont High School in Monroe in 2002 and North Carolina State University School of Engineering in 2006. He is employed as a design engineer with American Towers of Cary.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
Mona Lisa DellaVolpe of New Orleans, La., was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Rebecca Davenport of Dothan, Ala., sister of the groom, Lorie Hadley and Lindsey Moon of Raleigh and Derica Justice of Fuquay Varina.
Brian Baucom of Monroe was best man.
Groomsmen were Rob Davenport of Dothan, brother of the groom, Dustin Kiker of Monroe, Jeff Sacrinty of Ashland, Ky., and Matt Watts of Raleigh.
Michelle Cartrette of Whiteville, cousin of bride, was flower girl.
Ginger Cumber of Riegelwood directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs were Matt Jones of Raleigh and Ian Justice of Fuquay Varina.
A program of wedding music was provided by Arden Medlin of Riegelwood, pianist; Betsy and Lindsay Johnson of Lynchburg, Va., vocalists; and JoRuth Porter of Riegelwood, organist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception and dance at Magnolia Greens Golf Plantation of Leland. Stan Sears and Rick Sears, uncles of the bride, greeted guests.
After a wedding trip to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, the couple reside in Apex.
Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower in June hosted by Ann White, friend of the bride’s grandmother; a miscellaneous shower in April hosted by Betsy and Lindsay Johnson, LouAnn Overman and Donna Todd; a miscellaneous shower in March hosted by the groom’s Bible study group; a miscellaneous shower in March hosted by co-workers of the bride; and an engagement party in October hosted by the bride’s parents.
The groom’s parents held a pig-picking rehearsal dinner at the home of Marlene Sears of Riegelwood, grandmother of the bride.
