Price - Mays
Sara Elizabeth Mays of Wilmington and Michael Steven Price of Wilmington exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. at Oak Forest Church of Christ, with Lennie Reagan officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Becky Mays of Selma and the granddaughter of the late Romy and Nora Lee Mays of Coahoma, Texas, and R.J. Roddy and Navoleine Roddy of Troup, Texas.
The groom is the son of Carson and Gayle Price of Selma and the grandson of Thel and Agnes Brady and Stephen and Dorothy Parrish of Selma.
The bride was escorted by father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a platinum white A-line gown with a teardrop neckline, sleeveless lace shoulder straps and a keyhole lace back. The straps and back were accented with sequins, pearls and satin buttons. The gown had a tulle overlay and a semi-cathedral train embellished with lace appliqués and hand-beaded with sequins and pearls. The train was trimmed with scalloped lace.
Her headpiece was a tiara of rhinestones and pearls attached to a fingertip-length single-layer veil accented with silver beading around the bottom.
The bride carried a clutch bouquet of stargazers, pink and white roses, white hydrangeas, white stephanotis with pearl heads, pink astro and pink astilbe blooms with stems wrapped with sheer white ribbon accented with pearls down the stems. Her great-grandmother’s rings dangled from ribbons attached at the top of the stems.
Faith Davis of Raleigh was her friend’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Dana Mays of Wilson, sister-in-law of the bride; Sara Beth Price of Matthews, sister-in-law of the groom; Ashley Barnes of Selma, sister of the groom; Samantha Lasater and Jessica Gray of Wilmington, friends of the bride; and Lindsey Conner and Brenna Conner of Dudley, family friends of the bride.
Carson Price was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Eric Price of Matthews, brother of the groom; Joshua Mays of Wilson and Matthew Mays of Boone, brothers of the bride; Stephen Hollingsworth and Michael Stephenson of Raleigh, Will Murphy of Zebulon and Brandon Batten of Wilmington, friends of the groom.
Ushers were Randy Conner of Dudley, family friend of the bride, and Ryan Fitzgerald of Selma.
Jordan Mays of Wilson, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Siri Hull of Dudley, family friend of the bride, was honorary flower girl. Bryce Hull of Dudley, family friend of the bride, was ringbearer.
Gladys and Margo Hull Dudley, family friends of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Kathryn Snell of Wilmington, friend of the bride. Danielle Parrish of Selma, cousin of the groom, and Magen Hull of Dudley, family friend of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Sean McDonald of Rocky Mount, pianist; Susan Arnold of Pikeville and Stephen Church of Carthage, vocalists; and Josh Wilson and Rita Reinsch, sound technicians.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Lane Tree Country Club. Helpers were Tracie Wilson, Caryn Reagan, Marquita Wallace, Leah Conner and Janice and Greg Quinton. Servers were Victoria Tyer, Allie Reagan, Erica Strahin, Jessica Strahin and Rebecca Jenkins, members of the bride’s teenage Wednesday night girls’ Bible class.
After a wedding cruise to the south Caribbean, the couple reside in Wilmington.
Events held before the wedding included a surprise home shower Aug. 4 at the Children’s Place in Wilmington hosted by co-workers of the bride; a lingerie/bachelorette party July 28 in Wilmington hosted by Faith Davis; a weekend rafting trip July 27 through 29 on the Nantahala River hosted by Matthew Mays; a miscellaneous shower July 22 at Pine Valley Church of Christ of Wilmington hosted by Linda Smith-Fox; a home and kitchen shower July 12 at Oak Forest Church of Christ hosted by ladies of the church; a miscellaneous shower June 8 at United Faith Christian Church hosted by the groom’s mother and Susan Hales, aunt of the groom; and a naughty-or-nice shower April 26 in Wilmington hosted by Jessica Gray.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner in the church fellowship room.
