MOUNT OLIVE — Jennifer Nichole Mills and Marlon O’Neal “Neal” Britt Jr. exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. at Southern Wayne Country Club, with the Rev. Marty Gurganus officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Jerry Marvin and Jennifer Rye Mills of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Marvin Gray and Mary Glover Mills and the late Wilbur Lee and Wilma Brown Rye of Goldsboro.
She graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1997 and Wayne Community College with an Associate of Applied Science degree in dental hygiene. She is employed as a dental hygienist with Dr. O.R. Stovall III D.D.S.
The groom is the son of Marlon O’Neal and Teresa Hines Britt of Newton Grove and the grandson of Larry and Edna Hargrove of Clinton, Evelyn Hines and the late Guy Hines of LaGrange and the late David Britt.
He graduated from Hobbton High School in 1997. He is employed as a farmer with G and R Farms.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an ivory matte satin and organza gown with a sweetheart neckline. The bodice was embellished with an appliqué of beadwork and crystals. The dropped waistline featured a band of beaded appliqués and crystals and flowed into a full ballroom ruched skirt. Each pickup was detailed with a beaded appliqué. The chapel-length train was embellished with a lace inset.
Her headpiece was a tiara of crystals accented with pearls.
The bride carried a bouquet of cool water roses accented with seeded eucalyptus and purple larkspur.
Leigh Mills Hooks was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Holly Bowden Kasch and Kelly Thornton Mclamb.
Mason O’Neal Britt was best man.
Groomsmen were Nicholas David Britt, Bradley Scott Mills and Michael Lee Hooks.
Josef Tyler Mills was the junior groomsman. Ryan Michael Hooks was the miniature groomsman.
Kaylie Rye Mills was flower girl. Braxton Scott Mills was ringbearer.
Terri Rye Davis, aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Kimber Roche, cousin of the bride.
Special helpers were Donna Mills, LeeAnn Best and Robert Garris.
A program of wedding music was provided by the Rev. Marty Gurganus, vocalist, and Mike Overman’s Shag Daddy’s DJ Service.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents and the couple held a dinner and dance reception at Southern Wayne Country Club.
After a wedding trip to the coast, the couple reside in Newton Grove.
Events held before the wedding included a bachelor party July 28 in Goldsboro hosted by Michael Hooks; a lingerie shower July 28 at the home of Leigh Mills Hooks; a bridesmaids’ night out July 28; and a miscellaneous shower July 22 at the home of Terri Rye Davis hosted by the bride’s aunts.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Aug. 3 at Murphy’s Place.
