Steed - Norman
ROCKY MOUNT — Courtney Marshall Norman and Hunter Lee Steed exchanged vows May 19 at 5 p.m. at the Church of the Good Shepherd, with the Rev. R. Scott White officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wright Norman of Rocky Mount and the granddaughter of Edna Lefever Norman and the late Thomas Wiley Norman of Roper and the late Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Hyams Troutman of Enfield, formerly of Goldsboro.
She graduated from Northern Nash Senior High School and East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing. She was presented at the North Carolina Debutante Ball in 1999. She is employed by Signsmith Inc. of Greenville.
The groom is son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lee Steed III of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles St. George Weathers and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lee Steed Jr. of Goldsboro.
He graduated from Wayne Country Day School. He is employed as an estimator for Wayne Roofing and Sheet Metal Co. Inc.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her family.
She wore an ivory strapless couture gown of duchess satin with a tulle overlay and satin ribbon detail at the waist and along the chapel-length train.
Her headpiece was her mother’s chapel-length mantilla adorned with Chantilly lace.
Shannon Norman Freund of Alpharetta, Ga., was matron of honor, while Elizabeth Ambler Watson of Wrightsville Beach was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Jessica Ann Bazik of Charlotte, Alison Marissa Given of New Bern and Ashley Michelle Wyatt of Greenville.
Macklin Elizabeth Freund of Alpharetta, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Michael Scott Freund Jr., nephew of the bride, was ringbearer.
Carl Steed III was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Matthew Weathers Steed of Greenville and Samuel Wesley Steed of Goldsboro, brothers of the groom; Michael Scott Freund of Alpharetta, brother-in-law of the bride; and John Dortch Lewis III of Raleigh.
Ushers were Emery Donald Ivey and John Majette Seegars of Goldsboro and Jeffery Paul Nunn of Raleigh.
Ashley Danielle Simpson of Roper, cousin of the bride, was crucifer. Christopher Jarrett Simpson of Roper, cousin of the bride, was torch bearer.
Readers were Marc Brendan Lutcavage of Raleigh and Darryl Ross Kennedy of Goldsboro.
Leanna Peterson Page of Fort Stewart, Ga., and Daniel Ray Holmes of Goldsboro greeted guests.
Britton Annette Collins of Ocean City, Md., and Jennifer Powell Ricks of Rocky Mount attended the guest registry.
A program of wedding music was provided by Lawrence Goering, organist; Maureen Adelman, mezzo-soprano; and Dee Braxton-Pellegrino, violinist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception and dance at their home in Rocky Mount.
After a wedding trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, the couple reside in Goldsboro.

A bridesmaids’ luncheon was held at Benvenue Country Club hosted by Mrs. Hodges Hackney, Mrs. Merlin Chesson and Mrs. Michael Bowen, aunts of the bride, and Mrs. James Watson; a cookout May 31 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Stephens at Rocky Mount Reservoir hosted by the Stephenses, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marrow, Mr. and Mrs. James Mower, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Arrington; a bridal shower at the home of Jenny Lewis of Goldsboro hosted by Mrs. Lewis; a bachelorette party in Atlanta, Ga., hosted by Shannon Freund, sister of the bride; a bachelor party in Wintergreen, Va., hosted by friends of the groom; a bridal shower at the home of the bride’s parents hosted by Shannon Freund, Jennifer Ricks and Beth Watson ; and an engagement party at Goldsboro Country Club hosted by the groom’s parents and friends and family of the couple.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner and dance June 1 at Birchwood Country Club.
