Dawson - Garris
Hayley Laura Garris and Michael Harvey Dawson exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 19 at 6 p.m. at New Hope Friends Meeting, with the Rev. Bill Garner officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Garris Sr. of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Norwood Mozingo and the late Margie Mozingo of LaGrange and J.B. and Evelyn Grant and the late Paul Garris of Goldsboro.
She is a 2000 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2003 graduate of Wayne Community College. She is employed as a registered nurse with Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The groom is the son of Shelton Dawson and the late Minnie P. Dawson of Goldsboro and the grandson of Beatrice Dawson and the late Joseph Dawson of Goldsboro and the late Edgar and Florence Price of Seven Springs.
He graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 1994 and Mount Olive College in 2000. He is employed as police officer with Greenville Police Department.
The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father.
She wore a formal gown of white chiffon over satin with a strapless neckline. The bodice was decorated with embroidered lace, pearls, crystals and sequins. The sheath skirt flowed into a chapel-length chiffon train.
Her headpiece was a two-tiered veil of silk illusion.
The bride carried a bouquet of pink roses.
Carla Price Pate was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Jennifer Perkins Howell, Christie Dawson Wiggins, Cindy Dawson Jackson and Jessica Letchworth.
Shelton Dawson was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Michael Wiggins, Jay Jackson, Robert Garris and Anthony Weeks.
Michael Wiggins II was the junior groomsman.
Molly Jackson was flower girl.
Sandy Shingleton and Sherlene Mansfield directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Kari Jackson. Caraleigh Mewborn distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jay Sauls and Robert J. Garris, vocalists; Elaine Edwards, pianist; Brenda Ormond, organist; and Gary Fields, sound technician.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Walnut Creek Country Club. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thaxton and Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Case greeted guests.
After a wedding trip to Ocracoke Island, the couple reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon May 12 at the home of Cindy Jackson hosted by family; a bridal shower May 10 hosted by Wayne Memorial Hospital emergency department staff; a lingerie shower May 9 at the home of Carla Pate hosted by family and friends; a garden shower April 29 hosted by family and friends; a bridal shower April 1 at New Hope Friends Meeting hosted by family and friends; and a Christmas shower Dec. 9 at the home of Robin Thaxton hosted by family and friends.
A rehearsal dinner was held at Walnut Creek County Club.
