Jones - Hemphill
Kathy Lee Hemphill and Kenneth Christopher Jones exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 14 at 4 p.m. at Walnut Creek Country Club, with John Earnest officiating.
The bride is the daughter of John H. and Young C. Hemphill of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Victor S. Hemphill of Bakersfield, Barbara Ann Gilmer of Hollow Rock, Tenn., and the late Chun Ik Lee and Gil Nam So of South Korea.
She graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry and a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She is employed as a research chemist at Sandoz Inc. of Wilson.
The groom is the son of Ken and Myrna Jones of Goldsboro and the grandson of Laura Ellen Griffith and the late Kenneth Ackley Jones Sr. of Goldsboro and the late W.R. and Myrtle Carter of Bogalusa, La.
He attended Wayne Community College. He is employed as a trim contractor with Ken Jones Construction.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a formal white strapless dupioni silk gown, a fitted bodice embellished with beads, a chapel length train accented with a diamond necklace and diamond stud earrings.
Her headpiece was a green cymbidium orchid in her hair with a waist-length veil adorned with scattered crystals.
The bride carried a bouquet of blush calla lilies and green cymbidium orchids.
Christine Hemphill of Greenville was her sister’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Cherie Jordan of Goldsboro, sister of the groom; Mandi Pongpairoj of Greenville and Annie Pongpairoj of Bangkok, Thailand, sisters-in-law of the groom; and Heather Hayes of Asheville, friend of the bride.
Ken Jones was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Aaron Jordan of Goldsboro, brother-in-law of the groom; Shane Pongpairoj of Greenville and Steve Pongpairoj of Bangkok, brothers of the groom; and Stephen Lane of Raleigh, friend of the groom.
Jade Jordan and Kristina Pongpairoj, nieces of the groom, were flower girls. Coe Jordan and Kaedyn Pongpairoj, nephews of the groom, were ringbearers.
Ellen Grice and Ann Godwin, aunts of the groom, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Bianca White, friend of the couple.
A program of wedding music was provided by Melissa Feller of Greenville, pianist.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Walnut Creek Country Club grand ballroom.
After a wedding trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the couple reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a home shower March 10 at the home of the groom’s parents hosted by Ellen Grice, Ann Godwin and Diana Jones; and an engagement party Feb. 23 at the home of the groom’s parents hosted by Bill and Betty Parker, Bill and Anna White, Tom and Patsy Nobles and Patricia Marshbanks.
A rehearsal dinner was held April 13 at the home of Aaron and Cherie Jordan, brother-in-law and sister of the groom.
