Jones - Barbee
Amy Jo Barbee and Joseph Brandon Jones of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony April 14 at 5 p.m. at Lane Tree Golf Club, with the Rev. Billy Olsen officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Charles F. Barbee of Raleigh and Jo Ann Barbee of Goldsboro, the granddaughter of Van Barbee, Lottie Barbee, Mildred Mull and the late Thad Mull of Aberdeen and the great-granddaughter of J.G. Kanipe of Rockingham.
She graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School, Wayne Community College and East Carolina University. She is employed as a fourth-grade teacher at Tommy’s Road Elementary School.
The groom is the son of Jack and Jeanne Jones of Dudley and the grandson of Edna Oakley and Joseph and Marie Brickhouse of Dudley and the late John Jones of Faison.
He graduated from Southern Wayne High School and Wayne Community College with an associate degree in forest management. He is employed as a log yard supervisor at Lampe and Malphrus.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a formal gown of candlelight satin with an overlay of silk organza. The bodice was enhanced with asymmetrical gathers at the side and embellished with crystals and beads. The A-line skirt flowed into a semi-cathedral train.
Her headpiece was a veil of silk illusion fashioned with crystal beading.
Carolyn Barbee of Goldsboro was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Kristin Parker Myers and Heather Jackson Sasser of Goldsboro, Jennifer Perkins Howell of Wilmington, Lettie Lawrence of Rocky Mount and Paige Howell of Pikeville.
Jack Jones was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Nicholas Dubberly of Fremont, Braxton Brickhouse and Remic Stahl of Goldsboro, Timothy Cavenaugh of Dudley and Brandon McLawhon of Mount Olive.
Carleigh Myers was flower girl.
Joanne Honn directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Michael Morgan and Elle Dubberly. Michael Kubesh and Kimberly Scott distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Lettie Lawrence and Brandon McLawhon, vocalists, and Jessica Gott, flutist.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Lane Tree Golf Club. Terry Scott and Mary Dubberly, aunts of the groom, cut the wedding cake.
After a wedding cruise to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a bridesmaids’ luncheon April 13 at Madison’s hosted by Jennifer Howell and Clarkie Perkins; a tea party April 4 hosted by Julia Bender and Connie Hopper; a bachelorette and lingerie party March 31 hosted by Elle Dubberly and Mary Dubberly; a bachelor party in Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a shower March 27 hosted by staff members of Tommy’s Road Elementary; a tool shower March 25 hosted by friends of the groom; a luau March 24 hosted by Debra Barbee; a household shower Jan. 27 hosted by Mary Dubberly and Terry Scott; a household shower Jan. 20 hosted by Mildred Mull and Dianne Roberts; and a Christmas shower Dec. 10 hosted by Kristin Myers and Nancy Parker.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Sleepy Creek Clubhouse. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
