Scott - Davenport
Mandy Elayne Davenport and James Ledell Scott Jr. exchanged vows in a double-ring outdoor ceremony April 7 at 3 p.m. at the home of the groom’s parents, with the Rev. Craig Langdon officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Larry and Gloria Lassiter of Goldsboro and the late Raymond Keith Davenport of Seven Springs, the granddaughter of the late Raymond Marlton and Gertrude Davenport of Seven Springs and the late James and Dorothy Brown of Goldsboro and the stepgranddaughter of Elsie Lassiter and the late Paul Lassiter of Princeton.
She is a 1994 graduate of Rosewood High School and a 2000 graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in teaching. She is employed as a fourth-grade teacher at Carver Elementary School.
The groom is the son of Jim and June Scott of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Ralph and Dorothy Weaver of Grantham and Emma Jean Scott, the late W.L. Scott and the late May Belle Scott of Mar Mac.
He graduated from Rosewood High School in 1994. He served in the Army. He is employed at CAM Fabrication.
The bride was escorted by her brother and given in marriage by her family.
She wore a mock two-piece outfit with a sweetheart neckline and an A-line skirt. It was semi-cathedral with black floral embroidery on a corset back.
Her headpiece was a short beaded veil.
The bride carried a bouquet of white roses and orange daylilies.
Tiffany Geer was her friend’s matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Myra Mallard, friend of the bride, and Wendy Dickerson, cousin of the bride.
Jim Scott was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Donald Herring, friend of the groom, and Jonathan Kornegay, cousin of the groom.
Junior bridesmaids were Kayla and Kimberly Scott, daughters of the groom.
Caleb Dickerson, cousin of the bride, was ringbearer.
Sheila Farmer, aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs were Lisa Knoll, sister of the groom, and Jenny Knoll, niece of the groom.
A program of wedding music was provided by Marla Lynn, cousin of the bride.
Following the ceremony, a pig picking reception was held. Servers were friends of the bride. Sue Turner, aunt of the bride, served the wedding cake. Margaret Kornegay, aunt of the bride, poured punch.
The couple will reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower March 29 at Carver Elementary School hosted by co-workers; a bridal shower March 17 hosted by the couple’s parents; and a bachelorette weekend in Myrtle Beach, S.C., hosted by friends of the bride.
A rehearsal dinner was held April 6 at the Steak Barn.
