Brown - Kennedy
FAISON — Courtney Taylor Kennedy and Gregory Bret Brown exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony March 31 at 3 p.m. at Faison Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Paul Rose officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Kennedy of Faison and the granddaughter of Hazel Kennedy, the late Roy Kennedy and the late Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Ellis of Faison.
She is a 2000 graduate of North Duplin High School. She is the owner/artistic director of Eastern Carolina Academy of Dance in Wallace.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Greg Brown of Rose Hill and the grandson of Lucille Brown, the late Preston Brown and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd E. Boyette of Rose Hill.
He is a 1999 graduate of James Kenan High School and a 2003 graduate of Catawba College with a bachelor degree in business management. He is employed as a livestock manager with Farm Choice Beef LLc.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an ivory drop waist A-line gown with a chapel length train accented with rum lace on the bodice and the bottom of the gown. The rum lace flowed to the train with box pleats.
Her pearl and crystal tiara was attached to an ivory fingertip-length veil.
The bride carried a bouquet of calla lilies wrapped in ivory ribbon and ivory buttons.
Tara Myers and Angie Gibson were their sister’s matrons of honor.
Bridesmaids were Cheryl Warren, Sara Ivey, Holly Reese, Tori Brown and Jennifer Ray.
Greg Brown was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Derek Brown, Joe Nixon, Mike Kels, Justin Fife, Chris Jernigan and Chad Lakey.
Kendall Myers and Maggie Brown were flower girls. Christian Gibson was ring bearer.
Cindy Rhodes directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Megan Rhodes, Rebecca Rhodes and Eleni Vernon.
A program of wedding music was provided by Pooh Merrit, French hornist; Libby Oldham, pianist; Jeremy Thompson, organist; and Josh Quinn, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at Southern Wayne Country Club. Kirby Grady, Seth Quinn, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Holland, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Miriello and Mr. and Mrs. Nick Columbus greeted guests.
After a wedding trip to Negril, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Warsaw.
Events held before the wedding included a bachelorette party March 17 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., hosted by Tori Brown; a bridesmaids’ luncheon March 10 at Murphy’s Place of Mount Olive hosted by Mrs. Randy Holland, Mrs. Terry Columbus and Mrs. Pat Miriello; a miscellaneous shower March 15 hosted by students and parents of Eastern Carolina Academy of Dance; a lingerie shower March 3 at the home of Sara Ivey hosted by Ms. Ivey and Brandi Hamm; a kitchen and recipe party Feb. 28 at Change of Venue Cafe of Kenansville hosted by Tara Myers, Angie Gibson, Jennifer Lewis and Cheryl Warren; a miscellaneous shower Feb. 17 at Dobson Chapel Church hosted by members of the church; a bath and linens shower Feb. 11 at the home of Barbara Guy and hosted by Candace Outlaw, Mrs. Guy and Nikki Newman; and a bachelor weekend in Topsail Beach hosted by friends of the groom.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at the Mad Boar Restaurant in Wallace.
