Shearer - Maddox
SAINT SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. — Mary Charlotte Maddox and Ballard Bruce Shearer exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Dec. 30 at 3 p.m. at Saint Simons United Methodist Church, with Mark Henry officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Steven Walter and Anneliese Bauhofer Maddox of Atlanta, Ga., and the granddaughter of Charlotte Adams Maddox and the late Walter Erskin Maddox of Emerald Isle, formerly of Goldsboro, and John Edward and Sue Waller Bauhofer of Goldsboro.
She attended the University of Alabama and the Aveda Institute of Atlanta. She was a member of Chi Omega. She is employed as a sales representative at Z97.7 radio station.
The groom is the son of Craig Bruce and Louann Swiatek Shearer of Marietta, Ga., and the grandson of Leitha and the late Robert Shearer, Dorothy Swiatek and the late Robert Swiatek of Marietta.
He attended the University of Alabama and attends Georgia College and State University for a degree in environmental science. He was a member of SAE.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an ivory lace gown with satin ribbon at the waist.
Her headpiece was an ivory short veil trimmed in satin ivory ribbon.
The bride carried an herb bouquet to symbolize the blessings of marriage.
Emily Eliese Maddox was her sister’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Lauren Henderson, Maggie Watkins, Collins Davidson, Virginia Davidson and Hannah Frost.
Craig Shearer was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Baxter Shearer, Warren Koningsmark, Jonathan Van Gorp, Victor Evans and Alan Cobb.
Presiding at the register was Brenda Hall. Anneliese Hibbs and Garlyn Hibbs distributed programs.
Taylor Hibbs lit the candle arbors.
A program of wedding music was provided by George Ingram, pianist, and Gary and Jenne Bauhofer Hibbs, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the King and Prince Hotel in St. Simons Island. A wedding cake decorated with seashells topped with two seahorses was served.
After a wedding trip to Ameliea Island, Fla., the couple reside in Millidgeville, Ga.
Events held before the wedding included a shower at the Swan House of Atlanta hosted by friends of the bride’s mother; a salsa party hosted by Susan Kincer, Ellen Burns, Beth Mcgriff, Sharon Horton and Betty Koningsmark; a lingerie shower hosted by Betsy Henderson, Cathy Singleton and Stephanie Lyons; a bachelorette party in Atlanta hosted by the bride’s sister, Emily; a bachelor party in Savannah hosted by the groomsmen; a bridesmaids’ luncheon in St. Simons hosted by Susan Battle, Jenne Hibbs, Sherry Davidson, Martha Fiser, Brenda Hall and Linda Williams; and a cocktail party in St. Simons hosted by Bruce and Ski Whitehurst.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at the King and prince Hotel in St. Simons Island.
