Batten - McCarter
Patricia Faulk McCarter and Joseph Harold Batten Jr. of Kernersville exchanged vows in a private double-ring ceremony Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. at Emmaus Baptist Church, with the Rev. Johnny Sasser officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mae Warrick Shumate of Dudley and the late Harry Jones Shumate Jr.
She is a 1959 graduate of Goldsboro High School and a 1962 graduate of Rex Hospital School of Nursing of Raleigh. She is employed as vice president and funeral director with Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and Crematory.
The groom is the son of Agnes Aycock Batten of Goldsboro and the late Joseph Harold “Buck” Batten. He graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1958. He attended North Carolina State University. He is employed with J.H. Batten Inc., of Walkertown as a senior project manager.
Following the ceremony, the couple held a reception dinner at the Steak Barn.
After a wedding cruise to the Caribbean, the couple will reside in Kernersville and Dudley.
