Dunk - Miller
WARSAW — Laura Katrina Miller of Durham and Stevie Dunk of Aurora, Colo., exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. William Peterson officiating.
The bride is the daughter of James and Kathryn Wallace Miller of Mount Olive and the granddaughter of the late Jimmie and Arminda Miller of Kenansville and the late Peter and Laura Davis Wallace of Mount Olive.
She is a 1997 graduate of Kinston High School and a 2001 graduate of North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and attends Strayer University of Cary for a Masters of Business Administration. She is employed as a financial services advisor at TIAA-CREF of Denver, Colo.
The groom is the son of Frank Edwards of Anchorage, Alaska, and Sylvia Dunk Beasley of Jacksonville and the grandson of Reatha Edwards of LaGrange, the late Sherman Edwards of Goldsboro and the late James and Mildred Dunk of Kinston.
He graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1997 and North Carolina Central University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Political Science degree and in 2004 with a Masters of Public Administration degree. He is a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. He is employed as a program specialist at the Department of Veterans Affairs-Health Administration Center.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a light gold satin strapless corset back gown accented with copper embroidery embellished with Swarovski crystals.
Her headpiece was a light gold veil trimmed in gold satin cording extending from a crystal tiara.
The bride carried a bouquet of fresh ivory roses and chocolate miniature calla lilies handtied with chocolate satin ribbon.
Kimberly Williams and Bethany Banks were maids of honor.
Bridesmaids were Sheron Careathers, Shana Miller, Robbin Lewis, Vivian Redd, LaKenya Williams and Danylle Reynolds.
Kevin Bailey and Francisco Cuevas were best men.
Groomsmen were Gary Brown, Lindsay Bizzell, Shawn Fisher, Miles Nixon, Eric Beasley Jr. and Willie Hopkins.
Ushers were William Hunter, LaMond Edwards, DeLond Parker, Tony Graham Jr. and William Palmer.
Kyara Waters was the junior bridesmaid. Jabari Parker was the junior groomsman.
Cherish Dunk was flower girl. Jordan Careathers was ringbearer.
Comatha B. Johnson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Tyra Holley. Erica Dixon, Marion Wallace, Tekia Wallace and Doran Banks distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Tracy Alston, vocalist; Kevin Alston, organist; and Charles C. Richberg, trumpeter.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Mad Boar Restaurant of Wallace. Inez Banks was the emcee. Directors were Comatha Johnson, Addie P. Hall and Mary B. Hines.
After a wedding trip to Kona, Hawaii, the couple reside in Aurora.
Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower Oct. 14 in Kenansville hosted by the bride’s mother and Addie Hall and Mary Hines, cousins; a gentlemen’s party Oct. 7 hosted by friends of the groom; and a bridal shower Sept. 9 in Durham hosted by Bethany Banks and Kimberly Williams.
The groom’s family held a rehearsal dinner Nov. 17 at First Missionary Baptist Church’s fellowship hall.
