Dawson - Twiggs
Kelly Renee Twiggs and Roger Coleman Dawson III exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. at New Hope Friends Meeting, with Pastor Bill Garner officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Don and Cindy Twiggs and Harold and Pamela Elaine Edwards of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Alvin “Bill” Twigg Sr., Edna Mae Twigg, Jesse Bright and Evelyn Grant and the late Frances Kearney Grant of Goldsboro.
She is a 2003 graduate of Spring Creek High School and attends Wayne Community College for a degree in nursing. She is employed as a sales representative/administration at Thad’s Carpet One.
The groom is the son of Roger Coleman Dawson Jr. and Billy and Stephaine Michele Overton of Pikeville and the grandson of Frances Newsome Dawson and the late Roger Coleman Sr. and Kimber Dawson and Albert James and Patrica Wiley Hamm of Goldsboro.
He is a 2003 graduate of Faith Christian Academy and a 2005 graduate of Wayne Community College’s agribusiness program. He is employed as a groundskeeper at Cherry Hospital.
The bride was escorted by her stepfather and given in marriage by her family.
She wore a formal gown of white satin enhanced with a strapless sweetheart neckline. The bodice and hemline were fashioned with multiple layers of organza and satin. Satin buttons lined the back of the bodice and down the A-line skirt flowing into the chapel-length train.
Her head piece was a two-tiered circular-cut veil of silk illusion trimmed with a satin ribbon.
She carried a cascade of red roses with white lilies.
Emily Sherman was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Heather Twiggs ands Elizabeth Edwards, sisters of the bride; Sarah Hale and Hannah Best, friends of the bride; and Holly Dawson, sister of the groom.
Coleman Dawson was best man.
Groomsmen were Bryan Twiggs, brother of the bride; Matt Clark, Blake Cason and Jonathan Graham, friends of the groom; and Bobby Floars, cousin of the groom.
Ushers were Jordan Edwards, brother of the bride, and Brad Floars and Forrest Howard, cousins of the groom.
Honorary bridesmaids were Crissy Rouse and Melissa Jones, sisters of the bride, and Blaire Floars, cousin of the groom.
Madeline Clark, friend of the groom, was the miniature bride. Blake Floars,, cousin of the groom, was the miniature groom.
Lauren Smith, cousin of the groom, was flower girl. Matthew Hamm, cousin of the groom, was ringbearer.
Tammy Floars, aunt of the groom, and Dawn Smith, aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Jennifer Howell, cousin of the groom. Mr. and Mrs. Joel Waddell, friends of the couple, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Stephaine Jones, friend of the couple, pianist, and Stephan Reaves and Pam Sasser, vocalists.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church family life center. Chris Brock and Bliss Parrish greeted guests. Carolyn Hardison, served the wedding cake.
After a wedding cruise to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Belize and Costa Maya, Mexico, the couple reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a bachelorette night Dec. 8; a tool shower Dec. 8 hostsed by Bobby Floars; a lingerie party Dec. 2 at the home of Norma Sherman hosted by Emily Sherman and Sarah Hale; a bachelor party Dec. 2 in Raleigh hosted by the groomsmen; a bridal luncheon Dec. 2 at the home of Shannon Smith, hosted by Ms. Smith and Carolyn Hardison; a dance party Nov. 24 at New South of LaGrange hosted by Dawn Smith; a bridal shower Nov. 8 at the home of Tammy Floars hosted by Mrs. Floars; a bridal shower Oct. 23 at New Hope Friends Meeting fellowship hall hosted by Dawn Smith; and a lingerie party at the home of her mother hosted by Emily Sherman.
A rehearsal dinner was held Dec. 8 at New Hope Friends Meeting fellowship hall.
