Crews - Hyatt
MOUNT OLIVE — Crystal Leigh Hyatt and David Allen Crews exchanged vows Oct. 7 at 4 p.m. at Rodgers Chapel at Mount Olive College, with the Rev. George Strickland officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mr. Doug Hyatt of Mount Olive and the granddaughter of the late Emmett and Shirley Ballree and the late Jack and Viola Smith of Mount Olive.
She is a 2002 honor graduate of North Duplin High School and attends Wayne Community College for an associate degree in applied science.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Crews of Dudley and the grandson of the late Bill and Annie Crews and the late Jesse and Edna Boykin of Turkey.
He graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 2001 and Wayne Community College in 2002 with a diploma in HVAC technology. He is employed as an HVAC installer with Jackson and Sons Heating and Air.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a formal gown of white satin with a scoop neckline and spaghetti straps. The bodice was enhanced with beads and embroidery accented with miniature white daisies. The chapel-length train was outlined with miniature white daisies.
Her fingertip-length illusion veil had a satin-corded edge attached to a headpiece of miniature wild daisies.
The bride carried a bouquet of white calla lilies surrounded by miniature white daisies and eucalyptus.
Rhonda Elaine Howell served as her sister’s maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Tracy Hyatt of Mount Olive, sister of the bride, and Valynda Moore of Goldsboro and JoAnn Smith and Tiffany Griffin of Mount Olive, friends of the bride.
Ben Lee Crews was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Bennie Crews of Dudley, brother of the groom; Sherman Hyatt of Mount Olive, brother of the bride; and Jonathon Griffin and Joshua Smith of Mount Olive, friends of the groom.
Ushers were Matt Moore, Phillip Smith and B.J. Smith of Mount Olive, cousins of the bride, and Jonathan Grant of Dudley, nephew of the groom.
Haley Michelle Pearson of Mount Olive, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Logan Lee Crews of Dudley, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.
Marie Scott of Dudley, aunt of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs were Chris and Amanda Powers of Mount Olive, cousins of the bride.
A program of wedding music was provided by Nana Strickland of Mount Olive, pianist; Chad Smith of Mount Olive, vocalist; and Jonathan Woodley of Dudley, sound technician.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a dinner and dance reception at Wayne Shriner’s Club. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Gurgainous of Mount Olive, uncle and aunt of the bride, greeted guests. Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Pelt of Pikeville, uncle and aunt of the bride, said good-byes. Diane Smith of Mount Olive, aunt of the bride, served the wedding cake. Cadee Moore of Mount Olive, cousin of the bride, distributed bubbles.
After a wedding trip to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tenn., the couple reside in Mount Olive.
Events held before the wedding included a lingerie shower Sept. 23 at Logan’s hosted by Rhonda Howell; a bridal shower Aug. 19 at Mount Olive Fire Department; and a Pampered Chef shower April 23 at Emmaus Baptist Church hosted by Tiffany Griffin and JoAnn Smith.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Oct. 6 at Woodmen of the World building. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
