Grantham - Glisson
Amanda Renee Glisson and Jared Mitchell Grantham of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Drew Clark and the Rev. Ferrell Hardison officiating.
The bride is the daughter of James Henry Glisson II and Debra Brown Glisson of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Ursula R. Glisson and James Henry Glisson Sr. of Greenville and Elbert W. and Betty Lou Brown of Kinston.
She is a 2005 honor graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental health. She attends East Carolina University for a master’s degree in public health. She is employed by the Wayne County Environmental Health Department as an environmental health specialist.
The groom is the son of Mitchell G. and Betty M. Grantham of Goldsboro and the grandson of Lee R. and Jewel H. Grantham and Russell M. and Myrtle G. Moore of Goldsboro.
He graduated from Lee University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He is employed by Wayne County Public Schools as a business teacher at Spring Creek High School and by First Presbyterian Church as the worship leader for the contemporary worship service.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore an ivory couture princess gown with an off-the-shoulder sweetheart neckline. The bodice was embroidered with Swarovski crystals and silver bugle beads with a basque waistline. The semi-cathedral rousch train was accented with silver medallion pickups.
The bride carried a round bouquet of ivory and porcelina roses.
Her headpiece was a single-tiered fingertip-length veil with beaded edging.
Jenna Richland served as matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Amber Coker, Faith Fletcher, Laruen Grantham, Leann Pickard and Jessica Williams.
Mitchell Grantham was best man.
Groomsmen were Matt Clark, Brian Glisson, Brent Grantham, Ty Kincaid and Brooks Rogers.
Ushers were Wayne Browning, Jack Grimes, Will Murphy and Tom Zietlow.
Anna Grantham and Hannah Rhodes were flower girls. Landon Brown was ringbearer.
Phyllis Patterson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Christy Stafford. Sarah Williams and Sarah Brinson distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Dr. Jeremy Thompson, pianist; Lauren Grantham and Matt Clark, vocalists; and Brent Shattuck, guitarist.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception and dance at Walnut Creek Country Club. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor Jeffreys greeted guests. Pam Justesen and Nancy Aycock cut and served the wedding cake. David Wiley, friend of the couple, was emcee.
After a wedding trip to St. Martin, the couple reside in Goldsboro.
Events held before the wedding included a lingerie shower Sept. 30 in Emerald Isle hosted by Jenna Richland, Pam Justesen and Nancy Aycock; a bachelorette weekend Sept. 29 and 30 in Emerald Isle hosted by Jenna Richland; a celebration of marriage Sept. 27 hosted by the staff of First Presbyterian Church; a cookout Sept. 24 hosted by Jane Richter, Beth Jorgenson and Bobbie Anderson; a touch of Christmas bridal shower Sept. 17 hosted by Pam Taylor, Jennifer Thompson and Carol Norfolk; a home and garden shower Sept. 16 hosted by June Brown, Betty Lou Brown and Mary Ann Harris; a bridal shower Aug. 27 hosted by Whitley Church; and a miscellaneous shower Aug. 19 hosted by Jewel Grantham, Laura Grantham and Betty Evans.
The groom’s family held a rehearsal dinner at Raintree Clubhouse.
