Pate - Sutton
FAISON — Ashley Elaine Sutton and William James Pate Jr. exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. at Faison Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul Rose officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Gary and Vickie Sutton of Mount Olive and the granddaughter of Mabel Sutton and the late Earl Sutton of Mount Olive and Frankie Andrews and the late Lowell Andrews of Calypso.
She is a graduate of Sampson Community College with an associate degree in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The groom is the son of William James Pate Sr. and Linda Oates Pate of Calypso and the grandson of the late Gurney and Rachel Lambert Pate of Calypso and the late Joe Oates and Margaret Oates of Faison.
He is a graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate degree in agribusiness technology. He is employed at Mount Olive Gas Co.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a full length white matte satin strapless gown with an embroidered inlay on the bodice and skirt and a front split accented with Swavorski crystals that fell into a chapel-length train accented with covered buttons.
Her two-tiered elbow-length veil was outlined with Swavorski crystals and pearls.
Kellie Sutton Witherington served her sister as matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Lindsay Sutton, cousin of the bride, and Lynn Pate Caveness and Jill Pate Garner, sisters of groom.
Jimmy Pate was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Lee Sutton, brother of the bride; Rodney Lambert Jr., cousin of groom; and Lee Swinson, friend of the groom.
Lauren Caveness, niece of groom, was flower girl. George Garner, nephew of the groom, was ringbearer.
Daphne Swinson, cousin of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Amanda Buckner. April Tillman and Julie Kinsella distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Deborah Kornegay, pianist, and Randy Cashwell, vocalist.
Following the ceremony, the groom’s parents held a reception.
After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple will reside in Calypso.
Events held before the wedding included a lingerie shower Sept. 9 hosted by Kellie Witherington, Sarah Roberts and Carla Anderson; a floating shower Aug. 20 at Calypso Presbyterian Church held by church family and friends; a floating shower July 29 at Faison Baptist Church hosted by aunts of the bride; and a lawn and garden shower July 22 hosted by Elwood and Jill Garner and Brian and Lynn Caveness.
A rehearsal dinner was held Sept. 14 at Calypso Presbyterian Church.
