Rouse - Barwick
Laura Rachel Barwick and Dexter Alan Rouse pledged their wedding vows Saturday, June 17 at 5 p.m.
Dr. Dennis Atwood officiated at the double-ring ceremony at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W. Wilson, grandparents of the bride.
Charles A. and Esther Jo Davis of Mount Olive and James A. Barwick Jr. are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Joseph W. and Blanche Wilson of Mount Olive, Maggie Barwick and the late James A. Barwick Sr.
Parents of the groom are Gene and Scarlette Rouse of Seven Springs. He is the grandson of Sidney and Pearl Price, Betsy Rouse and the late Buren Rouse of Seven Springs.
Presented in marriage by her family and escorted by her papadaddy, the bride wore a formal gown of candlelight with a strapless neckline. The fitted bodice was embellished with pearls and sequins and a Basque waistline. The full Cinderella skirt was embroidered with silver threading accented with pearls and crystals on the front.
For her headpiece she chose a bandeau of freshwater pearls enhanced with crystal flowers.
Chancey Thompson of Dudley, cousin of the groom, was matron of honor. Heather Beaman of Mount Olive, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Laura Smith of Goldsboro and Hannah Guilliams of Mount Olive, cousins of the bride.
Gene Rouse was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Aaron Barwick of Mount Olive, brother of the bride, and Brett Henderson of Tampa, Fla., and Kyle Miller of Waynesville, friends of the groom.
Honorary bridesmaids were Chrystal Jones of Deep Run and Beth Kennedy of Seven Springs, sisters of the groom.
Marian Kennedy of Seven Springs, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Cage Jones of Deep Run, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.
Amy Smith, aunt of the bride, and Becky Glover and Sue Beaman, friends of the bride, directed the ceremony. Presiding at the register were Laura Shivar and Jimmy Person, cousins of the bride.
Mindy Glover, friend of the bride, distributed programs. Jimmy and Mary Guilliams, uncle and aunt of the bride, chimed the hour.
Special helpers were Carolyn and Alicia Withers.
A program of wedding music was provided by Kevin Gurley, vocalist, and Alan Daly, guitarist.
After a wedding cruise to the western Caribbean, the couple is residing in Mount Olive.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 2005 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She is employed as a second grade teacher at Carver Elementary School.
The groom graduated from East Duplin High School in 2001 and North Carolina State University in 2005, with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture extension. He is self-employed as a farmer in Seven Springs.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception at the home of the bride’s grandparents. Chrystal Jones and Beth Kennedy cut the wedding cake. Angie Sanders, Marie Daly and Karen Morgan were servers.
Hannah Guilliams and Beth Smith distributed favors. Preston and Will Daly distributed birdseed.
Laura Shivar, cousin of the bride, held a bridal luncheon June 16 at Goldsboro Country Club. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.
On June 14, a girls’ night out was held at Outback Steakhouse.
A guys’ night out was held June 14 at Sandpiper Seafood House and Oyster Bar.
On June 10, a bachelor party was held in Raleigh.
A weekend retreat was held June 9 in Topsail Island.
On June 3, the bride’s church family held a floating bridal shower at First Baptist Church of Mount Olive.
Co-workers of the bride held a bridal shower June 1 at Carver Elementary School.
On May 21, friends of the bride held a lingerie shower at the home of Sue Beaman.
Family and friends of the bride held a miscellaneous shower May 20 at Northeast Church.
On May 13, Kirby and Dana Southerland, cousins of the bride, held a shower at their home.
The Rouse family held a shower and dinner April 30 at the home of the groom’s parents.
On April 23, the Price family held a miscellaneous shower and cookout at the home of Sidney and Pearl Price, grandparents of the groom.
