Fricks - Smith
Ashley Gray Smith became the wife of Alan Hansel Fricks May 20 at 6 p.m.
The Rev. Gary Bailey officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Bobby Roy and Angela Renfrow Smith of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Hilda Aycock Renfrow and the late Alton Etheridge Renfrow of Kenly and the late O’Neal and Blanche Smith of Goldsboro.
John Joseph Sr. and Phyllis Anita Fricks of Goldsboro are parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Charles and Dorothy Warren and the late William and Dale Fricks of Rome, Ga.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of candlelight with a strapless sweetheart neckline. The fitted bodice was enhanced with layers of pleated satin and organza and ended in a dropped waistline. It had an A-line skirt. The hemline featured layers of pleated satin and organza. The back bodice closed with satin bridal buttons cascading down the chapel train.
For her headpiece, she chose a comb adorned with pearls and sequins that extended into a two-tiered veil of silk illusion with a satin corded edge.
Lisa Hatem, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Brittany Taylor, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Melissa Smith, sister-in-law of the bride; Pamela Lawrence, sister of the groom; and Jennifer Fricks, sister-in-law of the groom.
John Fricks Sr. was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were John Fricks Jr. and Tony Fricks of Brandon, Fla., brothers of the groom; John Fricks III, nephew of the groom; and Darian Smith, brother of the bride.
Anna Clair Hatem, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Carson Hatem, nephew of the bride, and Andrew Fricks, nephew of the groom, were ring bearers.
Dawn Gardner directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Stephany Speck, friend of the bride. Lani Fricks, niece of the groom, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Kimberly Honeycutt, pianist; Kristie Bailey, organist; Walt and Caroline Anderson of Little River, S.C., Matt Bartlett and Casey Sutton, vocalists; and Chris Wheeler, sound technician.
After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple is residing in Chesapeake, Va.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School. She attended Wayne Community College. She will attend Old Dominion University of Virginia for a bachelor’s degree in business finance.
The groom graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in 2000 and Mount Olive College in 2005 with a degree in computer information systems and business management. He is serving in the Navy as a cryptologic technician.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner May 19 at Madison’s.
On May 18, the couple held prewedding party at Logan’s.
Brenda and Brittany Taylor held a bridal shower May 6 at the home of Angela Smith.
On April 30, Hilda Renfrow and Terry Drake held a bridal shower at the home of Angela Smith.
Lisa Hatem and Melissa Smith held a bridal shower April 9 at the Smith home.
