WILSON — Jana Leigh Walston and Richard Lee Winders Jr. exchanged promises Nov. 19 at 3 p.m.
The Rev. William Presnell officiated at the double-ring ceremony at First United Methodist Church.
Jane Whitley Walston and Johnny Baum Walston Sr. of Wilson are parents of the bride. She is the stepdaughter of Lorene Etheridge Walston and the granddaughter of the late Myra Edmundson Whitley and Claude Brutus Whitley of Wilson and the late Rev. Robert Edward and Kathryn Baum Walston of Williamston.
The groom is the son of Richard Lee Sr. and Shirley Proctor Winders of Fremont. He is the grandson of Isabelle Jones Proctor and the late Leland Jackson Proctor of Fremont and Rosa Brock Winders and the late Williams Hilton Winders Sr. of Goldsboro.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an A-line satin gown covered in Alencon, corded and beaded lace. It was strapless with a scalloped hemline. The back had white covered buttons and a chapel-length train.
For her headpiece, she chose a chapel-length illusion veil with pearls. She carried a round bouquet of two dozen ivory roses.
Randi Michelle Kennemur of Raleigh was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Carrie Thornton Bass and Leanne Griffin Perkins of Greenville, Emily Baldree Collins and Jessica Atkinson of Wilson, Pamela Winders McCain of Raleigh and Melissa Winders Swartzfager of Cary, sisters of the groom, Amanda Garrett Nowell of Ayden and Allyson Hunt Rhodes of Oklahoma City, Okla.
Richard Lee Winders Sr. was his son’s best man. Ushers were Charlie Thomas Arnold of Goldsboro and William Cameron Ash and Dr. Robert Nelson Satterfield of Wilson. Groomsmen were Daniel Leon Harrell of Louisville, Ky., David Lee McCain of Raleigh, Michael Duane Swartzfager of Cary, Johnny Baum Walston Jr. of Wilson, brother of the bride, and Robert Ashley Winders of Pikeville.
Sarah Katherine McCain of Raleigh was the junior bridesmaid.
Miranda Elise Swartzfager was flower girl.
Starlette Thomas Walston and Martha Lane Camp directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Heather Alise Winders. Dana Peele Ash and Lauren Beth Peele distributed programs.
Abby Herndon and Cameron Shackelford were acolytes. Anderson Shackelford was crucifer.
A program of wedding music was provided by Alex Ruffin Watson, pianist; Jennifer Hudson Gay, organist; Dorthea Lavoris Taylor and Keith Howell Merrick, vocalists; the Chancel Choir; and Southern Belles.
After a wedding trip to Negril, Jamaica, the couple is residing in Wilson.
The bride is a 1998 graduate of Beddingfield High School and a 2002 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree in music education. She attends East Carolina University for a master’s degree in music education. She is employed as a music teacher with Lucama and Lee Woodard elementary schools.
The groom graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 1998 and Coastal Plains Law Enforcement Training Center in 2002. He is employed as a detective with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s mother held a reception at Willow Springs Country Club.
Friends of the groom held a bachelor party in Raleigh.
The bridesmaids held a bachelorette weekend in Raleigh.
Janice Rowe, Marie Matthews, Kathy Barnes and Teresa Woodard held a bridal shower.
Co-workers of the bride held two showers.
Randi Kennemur held a bridal party.
Carrie Bass and Cheryl Thornton held a Christmas shower.
The Winders and Proctor families held two bridal showers.
Mr. and Mrs. John Conkwright and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cunningham held an engagement party in August.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Something Different of Wilson.
