Horton - Behrens
Courtney Britt Behrens of Goldsboro and Teague Lon Horton of Goldsboro said their promises Oct. 15 at 3 p.m.
The Rev. Larry Morris officiated at the double-ring ceremony at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Frederick Henry and Patricia Ann Behrens of New Bern. She is the granddaughter of the late Poppy Jake and Mumsey Ruth Gearity of Ocala, Fla., and the late Frederick and Eleanor Behrens of Oceanside, N.Y.
The groom is the son of Lon Thomas and Patricia Marie Horton of Brockport, N.Y. He is the grandson of the late George and Marie Showerman of Batavia, N.Y., and Sherman and Gloria Horton of Elba, N.Y.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore an ivory candlelight satin dress with bell sleeves of lace and beadery. The chapel-length train was edged in ivory lace and beadery to match the off-the-shoulder beaded bodice.
For her headpiece, she chose a gold tiara with Swarovski crystals and pearls with an ivory veil. She carried a clutch bouquet of ivory roses, baby’s breath and ivory chiffon ribbon.
Bridget May Behrens was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Karen Witham, Cathy Stelly, April Deselms, Susan Bowen and Allison Taylor.
Trevor Thomas Horton was best man. Groomsmen were Thomas Phillip, Brendan David, Marcus D’Silva, Scott Maar and Thomas Bolick.
Judy Gourley directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Hannah Coley. Staci Morris and Alexis Golden distributed programs.
The bride’s father and Maria Starkweather, friend of the couple, were Scripture readers.
A program of wedding music was provided by Mark Gourley, pianist and organist; Laurie Duensing, flutist; Paige Vickory, violinist; and Trevor Horton and the groom, vocalists.
After a wedding trip to Venice, Italy, the couple is residing in Goldsboro.
The bride is a 1993 graduate of Deltona High School and East Carolina University in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy. She is pursuing a master’s degree in health care management. She is employed as rehabilitation director with Wilson Medical Center.
The groom graduated from Brockport High School in 1990, Duke University in 1994 with a bachelor’s degree in political science, the University at Buffalo School of Medicine in 1999 with a medical degree and the University of Virginia in 2002 for residency training in pediatrics. He is employed as a pediatrician with Goldsboro Pediatrics.
Following the ceremony, a dinner and dance reception was held at Walnut Creek Country Club. A three-tiered wedding cake with a fountain foundation was served.
Out-of-town guests were from Arizona, New York and Florida.
On Oct. 14, a rehearsal dinner was held at Goldsboro Country Club.
The groomsmen held a bachelor’s day Oct. 14 in Kinston.
On Oct. 7, the bridesmaids held a bachelorette party.
Coworkers of the bride held a bridal shower Oct. 12.
On Sept. 18, the bride’s sister and mother held a bridal shower.
The groom’s parents held a bridal shower Sept. 4 at their home in Brockport.
On Sept. 3, the groom’s parents held an engagement party at their home.
The couple held an engagement party July 16 at the home of the groom.
