ATLANTIC BEACH — Stephanie Jean Short and Rodney Douglas Lovic of Goldsboro said their wedding vows Saturday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m.
The Rev. John Earnest officiated at the double-ring beach ceremony.
Parents of the bride are Robert “Gene” and Teresa G. Short of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of Giles Ray Gurganus, Peggy P. Chase and Andrew J. and Dixie E. Short of Goldsboro.
The groom is the son of Mitchell and Cyndy W. Lovic of Mount Olive. He is the grandson of Mamie A. Dail of Snow Hill and Judith Woodell and the late Jack Woodell of Apex.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a white strapless chiffon fit and flare gown. The bodice was embellished with a crystal beaded cuff and an asymmetrical wrapped waist highlighted with a ruffle. It was finished with a cascading flounce sweep train.
For her headpiece, she chose a white lily and pearl tiara. She carried a bouquet of white and peach roses.
Susanne Noelle Currie, friend of the bride, was matron of honor. Rebekah Kaye Short, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Peggy Jo Person, Vickie Rae Caswell and Nancy Lee Callentine, friends of the bride.
Dennis Michael Smiley was his friend’s best man. William Philip Wells, friend of the groom, was the groomsman.
Tayla Brooke Martin, friend of the couple, was flower girl. Bobby Lee Hinnant, friend of the couple, was ring bearer.
Buddy and LuJene Merritt and Peggy Jo Person directed the wedding.
Special helpers were Cathy Short, aunt of the bride, Jerry Maley, Brent Hood, Mike Overman and Josh Williams, cousin of the bride.
A program of wedding music was provided by Vickie Rae Caswell.
After a wedding trip to New York, N.Y., the couple is residing in Goldsboro.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 2002 honor graduate of Wayne Community College with a degree in phlebotomy. She is employed as a phlebotomist at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The groom graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1997 and Wayne Community College in 2003 with a degree in basic law enforcement training. He is employed with LaGrange Police Department.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s family held a dinner and dance reception at Lane Tree Golf Club. Randy and Yolanda Williams, uncle and aunt of the bride, presided at the register and distributed programs. Juanita G. Sauls, aunt of the bride, and Vickie Rae Caswell and Marissa Denese Davis, friends of the couple, cut the wedding cake. Melissa Ray Williams and Monica Maria Sauls, cousins of the bride, and Haley Elizabeth Thornton, friend of the couple, poured punch. Servers were Ronald and Linda Moore and Luby and Rebecca Smith.
The groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner Sept. 30 at the Holiday Inn of Havelock, The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
Coworkers of the bride held a bridal shower Sept. 24.
On Sept. 17, the bride’s family held a miscellaneous shower at Coker Memorial fellowship hall.
