Smith - Scott
Jennifer Lynn Scott and Matthew Joseph Smith were united in holy matrimony Oct. 22 at 4 p.m.
The Rev. Jerry Jackson officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Providence Untied Methodist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Brenda Jackson Scott and the late Walter Ferrell Scott Jr. of Goldsboro. She is the granddaughter of the late William Frank and Pennie Gautier Jackson of Mount Olive and the late Walter Ferrell Sr. and Mildred Ricks Scott of Goldsboro.
The groom is the son of Robert Emory Jr. and Sally Sarver Smith of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of the late Ben William and Amy Ruth Sarver and Peggy Ann Smith of Norfolk, Va., and Robert Emory Smith of Gloucester, Va.
Given in marriage by her mother and escorted by her cousin, Timothy Fail, the bride wore a formal gown of white satin with a strapless neckline. The fitted bodice was embellished in white and light gold beads and sequins. The apron back had an organza inset with matching embroidery down the train.
For her headpiece, she chose a crystal and pearl tiara with a fingertip-length veil trimmed in white satin with crystal accents. She carried a bouquet of red roses accented with black feathers.
Melissa Cox, friend of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Amanda Gonzalez, cousin of the bride; Ginger Waller, Amanda Cwiakala and Heather Brock, friends of the bride; and Jennifer Smith, sister-in-law of the bride.
Bobby Smith was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Peter Smith, brother of the groom; Billy Brock and Daniel Davis, friends of the groom; and Stacey Overman, cousin of the bride.
McKayla Smith, daughter of the groom, was the miniature bride.
Abigail Smith, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Brennon Cox was ring bearer.
Dawn Gardner directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Stacey Fail, cousin of the bride. Julie Faucette, friend of the bride, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Melissa Coutts, pianist, and Holly Hansen, friend of the couple, and Steve Jones, vocalists.
After a wedding trip to Playa del Carma, Mexico, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and 2004 honor graduate of Mount Olive College with a bachelor of science degree in human services counseling. She is employed as a case manager with LIFE Inc.
The groom graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 1992 and Wayne Community College in 1995 with an associate’s degree in industrial maintenance. He is employed as maintenance technician with Pergo Flooring.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s mother held a reception at Walnut Creek Country Club. Robbie and Linda Quinn and Billy and Kay Fail, uncle and aunt of the bride, greeted guests. Ann Moore, aunt of the bride, presiding at the gift table.
The couple held a shower Oct. 21 at Billie’s Backstreet. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
On Oct. 8, friends of the couple held a cookout shower at the home of Keith and Ginger Waller.
Coworkers of the bride held a luncheon Oct. 7 at Texas Steakhouse.
On Sept. 24, Ann Moore, Betty Casey, Kay Fail and Brenda Lillard, aunts of the bride, and the Fellowship class of Providence Church held a miscellaneous shower at the church.
The bride’s mother and Kim Goff and Susie Bundy, friends of the bride, held a bridesmaids’ luncheon at the Royal Tea Room of Selma. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her attendants.
Friends of the couple held a bachelor/bachelorette weekend Aug. 12 through 14 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
On Jan. 8, friends of the bride held a Christmas shower at the home of Heather Davis.
