Griffin - Gregory
Tiffany Nicole Gregory and Jonathan Dixon Griffin were united in holy matrimony Aug. 20 at 3 p.m.
The Rev. John C. Sasser officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Emmaus Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald G. Gregory Sr. of Calypso. She is the granddaughter of Thelma Barfield and the late Norwood G. Barfield of Calypso and the late Edna Stiffler of Goldsboro.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell T. Griffin of Dudley. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Cedric D. Pierce of Nahunta and the late Mr. and Mrs. Oliver H. Griffin of Dudley.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white satin with an off-the-shoulder neckline enhanced with wine-colored satin adorned with pearls and bugle beads in a flower design. The fitted bodice was embellished with pearls, sequins and crystals accented with touches of colored beads. The full A-line skirt was beaded along the hemline and cascaded into a semi-cathedral train fashioned with wine-colored streamers.
For her headpiece, she chose a tiara accented with pearls and rhinestones attached to a two-tiered veil of silk illusion accented with a scalloped edge adorned with crystal beading.
Crystal Brock Quinn of Mount Olive, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Crystal Hyatt of Mount Olive, friend of the bride; Meranda Quinn of Mount Olive, niece of the bride; and Emily Griffin Grice of Nahunta and Wendy Griffin of Dudley, sisters of the groom.
Wendell Griffin was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Donald Gregory Jr. of Calypso, brother of the bride, and David Crews of Dudley, Adam Fowler of Goldsboro and C.J. Weaver of Mount Olive, friends of the groom. Ushers were Lee Taylor of Calypso, Taylor Whitfield of Dudley and John Duncan of Mount Olive, friends of the groom; Jody Quinn of Mount Olive, brother-in-law of the bride; and Chuck Grice of Nahunta, brother-in-law of the groom.
Honorary bridesmaids were Angela Taylor of Calypso and Lori Weaver of Mount Olive, friends of the bride. Stepenie Thompson of Mount Olive was the bride’s personal assistant.
Maya Gonzalez of Nahunta, niece of the groom, was flower girl. Zachary Quinn of Mount Olive, nephew of the the bride, was ring bearer.
Nora Sasser directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and distributing programs were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Strickland of Mount Olive, friends of the couple.
A program of wedding music was provided by Ila Strickland of Wilmington, pianist, and Robin Succi of Calypso and J.R. Kohnen of Dudley, vocalists.
Special helpers were Ada Roberts, Dena Creger, Dona Briggs, Dayna Herring and April Sasser.
After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple will reside in Mount Olive.
The bride is a 2002 graduate of North Duplin High School and a 2005 graduate of Sampson Community College with an associate’s degree in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse with Lenoir Memorial Hospital.
The groom graduated from Southern Wayne High School in 2001 and James Sprunt Community College with a certification in basic law enforcement training. He is employed as an officer with the Mount Olive Police Department.
Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a reception in the church fellowship hall. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pierce of Pikeville, uncle and aunt of the groom, greeted guests. Gaynell Barfield, aunt of the bride, and Jewell Autry, aunt of the groom, served the wedding cake. Kay Waters and Barbara Barfield, aunts of the bride, poured punch. Mr. and Mrs. David Griffin of Wilson, uncle and aunt of the groom, said good-byes.
On Aug. 19, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at Emmaus Baptist Church fellowship hall. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
Crystal Quinn, Crystal Hyatt and Belinda Gregory held a bridesmaids’ luncheon and a pamper-the-bride part July 30 at the home of the couple.
On July 30, a fishing cookout was held at Calypso Club pond.
The bride’s family held a miscellaneous bridal shower July 17 at Calypso Baptist Church.
On June 5, the groom’s family and church members held a miscellaneous bridal shower at Emmaus Baptist Church.
