Sutton - Trent
Sara Jane Trent became the wife of Robert “Robbie” Creech Sutton Saturday, June 11, at 2 p.m.
Pastor Wayne Brown officiated at the double-ring ceremony at Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Trent of Pikeville are parents of the bride. She is the granddaughter of Dorothy Darling of Schnectady, N.Y., the late Bill Darling of New York and the late Jesse and Betty Trent of Rainsboro, Ohio.
Parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sutton of LaGrange. He is the grandson of Gibbie Creech, the late Bill Creech and the late Alton and Lorena Sutton of LaGrange.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white satin and crystal organza accented with long bell sleeves and a V-neckline. The fitted bodice was embellished with re-embroidered Alencon lace, pearls and sequins. The A-line skirt was beaded with lace motifs and cascaded into a cathedral train.
For her headpiece, she chose a floor-length organza veil attached to a princess tiara crown adorned with Swarovski crystal and rhinestones that was worn by her mother. She carried a clutch bouquet of white roses tied with iridescent ribbon.
Stacey Brown, friend of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Shelley Radford of Pikeville, Emily Merritt of Dudley and Marcy Person of Dunn, sisters of the bride, and Toni Sutton and Kristy Herring of LaGrange, friends of the bride.
Charles Sutton was his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Mark Sutton of LaGrange, brother of the groom; Preston Sutton of Kinston, cousin of the groom; and Wesley Sutton and Bryant Rouse of LaGrange and Jordan Brown of Goldsboro, friends of the groom.
Deborah Rouse, friend of the bride, was her personal assistant.
Laura Person of Dunn, niece of the bride, was flower girl.
LaRue Sutton of LaGrange directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Heath Radford of Pikeville, nephew of the bride, and Marah Radford of Pikeville, niece of the bride. Jenna Sutton and Courtney Worth of LaGrange, nieces of the groom, distributed programs.
A program of wedding music was provided by Jessica Gates of Kinston, pianist, and L.A. Benson and Hannah McArthur of Mount Olive and Stephanie Gillette of Kinston, vocalists.
After a wedding trip to the north Georgia mountains, the couple will reside in LaGrange.
The bride is a 1994 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High school, a 1997 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate of arts degree and a 1999 graduate of East Carolina University with a bachelor of science degree in special education. She will be employed with Tommy’s Road Elementary School.
The groom graduated from North Lenoir High School in 1994. He attended Wayne Community College. He is employed with Goldsboro Iron and Metal as a dispatcher.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the church fellowship hall. Kathleen Durham of LaGrange and Patricia Day of Roxboro, aunts of the groom, cut and served the wedding cake. Angie Sutton of LaGrange, sister-in-law of the groom, poured punch. Evan Trent and Trent Radford of Pikeville and Andrew Merritt of Dudley, nephews of the bride, and Alana Person of Dunn and Hope Trent of Pikeville, nieces of the bride, distributed birdseed bags.
On June 10, the groom’s parents held a rehearsal dinner at The Baron and The Beef of Kinston. The couple chose this time to present gifts to their attendants.
Family and friends of the groom held a barbecue dinner June 4 at the Ruritan building of Bucklesberry.
On June 2, Stacey Brown, friend of the bride, held a bridal shower at El Korita and at the home of Wayne and Elizabeth Brown.
Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church held a shower May 22.
On May 15, Hickory Grove Methodist Church held a miscellaneous shower.
The bride’s family held a miscellaneous bridal shower May 7 at Pizza Inn.
On April 23, Toni Sutton held a Pampered Chef shower at her home.
The ladies’ Bible study group of Chisinau, Moldova, held a potluck dinner and shower March 14.
